At some point soon, fans of America's Team are hoping that Caleb Downs will take this title of the best player to sport No. 13. But for now, this is one of the more underwhelming lists we've seen from an overall standpoint thus far. So, before we get to our winner here, let's first have a look at everybody who's donned the digit for Dallas over the years.

If forced to choose a runner-up here, we'd roll with DeMarvion Overshown, who wore No. 13 for one season in 2024, which is the first year he took the field after missing his entire rookie campaign in 2023 after tearing an ACL during the preseason.
The former Texas Longhorn was having a fantastic '24 season, recording 90 total tackles, 5.0 sacks, and a pick-six in 13 appearances before tearing an ACL, MCL, and PCL late in the year. Upon his return in 2025, of course, he became the first player in Cowboys history to wear No. 0.
But let's get to our winner here, who wore No. 13 directly before Overshown and wore it longer than any other player in team history, that being wide receiver Michael Gallup.
A knee injury hindered Michael Gallup's career with the Dallas Cowboys
A two-time All-Mountain West selection and a consensus All-American at Colorado State in 2017, Gallup was taken by the Cowboys in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft with the 81st overall selection.
He enjoyed a solid rookie campaign, catching 33 passes for 507 yards and two touchdowns during the regular season and another eight for 137 yards in the team's two postseason games. His 119 yards in the Divisional Round afainst the Los Angeles Rams set a new franchise rookie playoff record.
In 2019, Gallup and Amari Cooper were one of the top 1-2 WR duos in the entire NFL, with Cooper going for 1,189 yards and eight touchdowns and Gallup going for 1,107 yards and six scores. And Gallup actually missed two games early in the year after suffering a torn lateral meniscus in Week 2.
He wasn't quite as productive in 2020, but he still posted solid WR2 numbers, tallying 59 catches for 843 yards and five touchdowns. A Week 1 calf injury landed him on injured reserve in 2021, but he returned to catch 35 passes for 445 yards and two touchdowns in nine games before suffering a torn ACL in Week 17.
Despite the injury, the Cowboys signed Gallup to a five-year, $57.5 million extension ahead of the 2022 season, as they were hoping he could recover to be the team's WR2 behind CeeDee Lamb, as they'd traded Cooper to the Cleveland Browns.
But that plan didn't work out as well as anyone would have hoped.
Clearly not the same player he was before the injury, Gallup recorded just 73 combined catches for 842 yards in 31 regular-season outings over the next two years. And while he went for six grabs for 103 yards in the Cowboys' 48-32 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs following the 2023 season, he became a salary-cap casualty in March 2024 and never played another NFL game.
To his credit, Gallup's 3,744 regular-season yards are good for 11th on the Cowboys' all-time list, but one has to wonder what his career could have been had that last knee injury not occurred.
