Wade Phillips Fixing Dallas Cowboys?

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Someone needs to slap me, but did I really just write that headline? Well, let me explain because in no way are the Dallas Cowboys out of the cellar.
We’ll recall that after the Dallas Cowboys were embarrassed by the St. Louis Rams, Wade Phillips announced that he was going to take over the Dallas Cowboys defensive play calling. The Cowboys have the most sacks on the NFL with 40 and DeMarcus Ware leads the NFL with 15, after getting three against the Seattle Seahawks. The defense also is holding teams from scoring. They are also getting turnovers, including interceptions that [...]

Kyle Kosier Placed on Injured Reserve

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The second Dallas Cowboys was placed on injured reserve for the season. Offensive guard Kyle Kosier’s foot won’t be healed in time to play this year. The Cowboys signed Steve Octavien from the Washington Redskins practice squad. Octavien, a linebacker, was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs, but he was one of their final cuts.

2-2 Won’t Make Playoffs For Dallas Cowboys

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 21 Comments

If the Dallas Cowboys were to go 2-2 in the final four games of the season, they’d likely miss the playoffs with a 10-6 record. That’s because the Washington Redskins and Atlanta Falcons are right on their tails and depending how the rest of the divisional games go, the Cowboys may be the odd team out. Both the Redskins and the Falcons have better NFC records at the moment, which would give them the tiebreaker over the Dallas Cowboys. The Redskins have won six NFC games with three left. The Falcons have won five, the same as the Cowboys, but [...]

December Awaits Dallas Cowboys. Enough of the Turkey Dance

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 14 Comments

I have been waiting to write this post all season. December is finally here. The playoff run is about to begin. Games really start to matter now.
The Dallas Cowboys have won three games in a row for the first time since the season started. After some ego-disrupting losses to the Washington Redskins, St. Louis Rams, Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants, the Cowboys seem to have gained their swagger back. Hey, that’s what Bradie James thinks at least.
But can this team check its ego at the tunnel? The next four games won’t be easy. Next up are the NFL’s best [...]

Marion Barber Dislocates Toe

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

What is it with pinkies and the Dallas Cowboys?
Marion Barber dislocated his pinkie toe in the win over the Seattle Seahawks tonight, according to owner Jerry Jones. Jones did not speculate if Barber could play next Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field.
This is not a major injury, but it could hamper Barber’s running style. If for some reason he cannot go, rookie Tashard Choice takes all the carries. There’s really no one else!
Although he scored a touchdown, Barber was unable to gain much yardage on the ground today, even before he sustained the toe injury. But defenses [...]

DeMarcus Ware, Marion Barber Injured In Win

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

DeMarcus Ware is on track to record 20 sacks this year–if he can still play.
A scary moment came at the end of the Dallas Cowboys-Seattle Seahawks game when DeMarcus Ware left with a knee injury. There has been no word at all if the injury is serious. But typically, when a player is taken out of a game with a knee injury, it is rarely good.
Meanwhile, Marion Barber left the game with a foot injury, after a player stepped on it. He returned to the game for a few plays, but he was taken out again for X-rays.
If either of [...]

Dallas Cowboys May Let Julius Jones Run Wild

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

By Bevomav
The Dallas Cowboys need Julius Jones to pick up the pace, just a little: If he gains 1000 yards (he is on pace for 986) the Cowoys will receive a 3rd round pick.
Currently, the Cowboys are on pace for a 4th round pick.
Why I use points instead of yards? Dallas is the number 10 defense in the NFL using yards, but using points allowed they are 21st.
Tony Romo making a difference:
If you take Romo’s stats and stretch them out(averaged) for the 11 games
Offense….Currently..9th….With Romo for year..4th..
Defense…Currently..21st..With Romo for year..11th..
Record…..Currently..7 and 4…With Romo for year..8 and 3..(Here I am using [...]

Dallas Cowboys sign cornerback/safety

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

The Dallas Cowboys signed Tra Battle from the practice squad of the San Diego Chargers, and officials indicate he might play tomorrow against the Seattle Seahawks.
Battle doesn’t have any spectacular numbers, but he can play safety and cornerback, two positions the Cowboys have had problems with this year. The signing may also indicate that the injury to cornerback Mike Jenkins is worse than originally thought. Jenkins has a bad hamstring and will not play tomorrow.
You can read more about the signing here.
