In a move that was seemingly telegraphed for over a month, future Hall of Fame pass rusher Von Miller agreed to terms with the Dallas Cowboys in order to provide some pass rush depth. Before he put on that iconic Cowboys helmet for the first time, he received some encouragement from another all-time great pass rusher.
Miller received a celebratory FaceTime call from Cowboys great DeMarcus Ware, who played alongside Miller during their Super Bowl-winning season with the Denver Broncos.
Even though they linked up in Denver, Ware is always a Cowboy above all else, and he had to get a kick out of seeing Miller link up with his old team.
A native son of Texas and former Texas A&M star, Miller had been angling to join the Cowboys for quite some time. While he is nowhere close to the player he was during his peak with the Broncos, there exists an avenue when he makes some impactful plays as a designated pass rusher in Christian Parker's defense.

New Cowboys pass rusher Von Miller gets welcome FaceTime from DeMarcus Ware
Miller is an unusual evaluation. After signing his laughable contract with the Buffalo Bills, Miller looked done. Miller mustered just six sacks in 2023 and 2024 combined, only tallying three tackles in 2023 despite playing in 12 games.
After joining the rival Washington Commanders, Miller hit nine sacks at age 36 during the 2025 campaign.
Miller was never the greatest run defender on his best day, and age has only eroded his ability to get in the way on early downs. Miller is strictly a pass rusher, and he will need to compete with two other pass rushers who struggle to defend the run in Donovan Ezeiruaku and first-round rookie Malachi Lawrence. Does he have enough juice left in the tank to stand out?
In the worst-case scenario, Miller will reply on name recognition more than anything else. The quick first step that made him a Hall of Fame talent in Denver is gone, and he looks like the disappointment he was in Buffalo. The best-case scenario would be Miller playing more than half the snaps and showing the Washington rebirth was not a fluke.
No matter what happens, Ware beaming from ear to ear after seeing Miller join his hometown Cowboys is a cool moment. Anything that Ware approves of should also earn a thumbs up from the collective Cowboys fanbase.
