It was no secret how much Von Miller wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy. As it turns out, Jerry Jones wanted him some Von Miller, too.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday night that Miller is expected to join the Cowboys. A DeSoto native who went on to star for the Aggies at Texas A&M, Miller gets his Texas homecoming.
At 37 years old, Miller is a far cry from the tour de force who annually challenged for sack crowns. However, he's coming off a 9.0 sack season with the Washington Commanders. He's still got enough juice to buoy a Cowboys pass rush that needed a known quantity.
The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly signing veteran pass rusher Von Miller
The confirmation came from Miller himself:

Miller dropped hints on social media that a move to Dallas was in the works. It started when he told Blogging The Boys that he "would love to play for the Dallas Cowboys." A couple of days later, he shared a photo on Instagram of himself in a photoshopped No. 24 Cowboys jersey.
The seven-time All-Pro returned to Instagram a few weeks later with a photo of Dak Prescott holding the Lombardi Trophy with the caption, "Why not?" It truly seemed like a formality. In the end, Dallas rewarded the vet's persistence.
Unlike Washington, the Cowboys don't need Miller to be a difference-maker on three downs. Dan Quinn and Co. practically asked him to carry their pass rush after Dorance Armstrong was lost for the season with a torn ACL. That's a ridiculous ask for a player in their mid 30s.
That won't be the expectation in Dallas. Somewhere in the 7-10 sack range with a respectable pressure rate is really all Christian Parker needs behind Rashan Gary and Donovan Ezeiruaku.
With Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark creating their share of havoc up the middle, Miller is in the ideal environment for a player of his age. He's set up to thrive in a complementary role.
Von Miller is a genius pickup by the Dallas Cowboys
There's nothing not to like about this move.
Even though extending Williams freed up a lot of cap space, Miller isn't going to cost you much. If the Super Bowl 50 MVP is healthy, he'll produce. You can set your watch to it every Sunday.
Think of the mentorship Miller can provide to Ezeiruaku, a budding second-year pro, and first-round pick Malachi Lawrence. Who better to guide the Cowboys' young core of pass rushers than the NFL's active sack leader and a future first-ballot Hall of Famer?
It's the perfect late-offseason move that could pay massive dividends if Christian Parker gets this defense back on track.
