This would be a disaster.

The only thing that would be worse than the Dallas Cowboys not getting Maxx Crosby in the 2026 offseason is the Philadelphia Eagles finding a way to trade for him.

The superstar pass rusher of the Raiders has been in focus lately as it feels like an announcement of a trade -- wherever he ends up going -- could come at any moment. And while the Cowboys have certainly been heavily rumored as one of the top landing spots, everybody knows the Philadelphia Eagles and general manager Howie Roseman are always lurking around every trade that goes down.

The Eagles even had the guts to call up Jerry Jones regarding a possible Micah Parsons trade, so it wouldn't be shocking if they tried to swoop in and steal Crosby right out of the Cowboys' clutches. A recent post on Twitter/X from Eagles star offensive tackle Lane Johnson incited a bit of panic regarding exactly that possibility.

Lane Johnson's cryptic Maxx Crosby post implies complete disaster for the Dallas Cowboys

Johnson himself recently made it known that he would be back with the Eagles for his 14th NFL season already. The Cowboys' fan base is hoping that he's going to have to deal with Crosby twice a year as opposed to just during practice with the Eagles.

The cost to get Crosby at this point is pretty well-documented. The starting point is expected to be what the Cowboys got for Micah Parsons last year (two first-round picks, possibly a player), and anything less than that would make it a bargain.

The Raiders are rebuilding and Crosby doesn't want to be around for another rebuild. Nobody should blame him for that, either. He's been a good soldier through some really rough years, quarterback changes, coaching changes, GM changes, and even ownership additions.

Heck, Crosby's been around long enough that they were still the Oakland Raiders in his first year in the league. He's been with the Raiders through it all, and he's now apparently had enough.

Crosby could be the missing piece for a team like either the Cowboys or Eagles, but nobody in Dallas wants to entertain the thought of him playing in Philadelphia. Considering how close it felt the Cowboys were to acquiring him not too long ago, the thought of him wearing an Eagles uniform is just gross.

But Lane Johnson is doing his best to at least perpetuate some fear in the Cowboys' fan base. Or maybe he was simply told to say something to keep driving up the price. Whatever the case, this saga will soon reach its end, and we'll see how bad the Cowboys not only want Crosby but how badly they want to keep him away from a division rival.
