Cowboys fans will love how awkward Giants training camp already looks

The lack of aura is astounding.

The Dallas Cowboys do not have a friendly schedule this upcoming season, making it absolutely imperative that they start hot out of the gates. Fortunately, Dallas has two winnable games to start the year versus the New York Giants and Washington Commanders, two teams they've fared well against in the Dak Prescott era.

Getting that first game in East Rutherford will be paramount. Ushering in a new era piloted by longtime Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, MetLife Stadium should be rocking.

Whether Giants players get up for the game is a different story, however. The G-Men recently uploaded a video of Harbaugh addressing the team before training camp, and his speech was anything but moving. Harbaugh's long pauses seemed to beg for a reaction, but you could hear a pin drop.

It made for a painfully awkward watch.

The Cowboys will be licking their chops at the Giants' reaction to John Harbaugh's motivational speech

"I'm standing up here in front of the New York Giants."

Crickets.

"The New York Giants!"

Crickets.

"This is the New York Giants sitting in this room! The New York Giants!"

Even the crickets have called it a night.

Harbaugh kept taking hacks, but the bat didn't come close to making contact. The second-hand embarrassment is real.

In Harbaugh's defense, we've seen far worse head coach speeches. The 63-year-old may have lost a little zip on his fastball, but there was nothing wrong with his message. If anything, this falls on the players for leaving their head coach hanging. Did they just roll out of bed? Not one player on the 90-man roster could muster a "Hell yeah!" or "Let's go, Coach!"? Embarrassing.

You ever been to a comedy show where the comedian can't buy a laugh? This had the same uncomfortable energy. Every pause felt like an invitation for someone to chime in, and nobody did.

None of this is to say that Harbaugh doesn't have a pulse of the locker room. After four seasons of Brian Daboll exploding at players and assistant coaches on the sideline, Giants players probably appreciate Harbaugh's professionalism and steady demeanor. But somebody had to give the man something.

This video didn't come off like the Giants were hanging on Harbaugh's every word. Nobody is confusing Harbaugh with Bill Parcells as a motivational speaker. But it would've helped if a single player met him halfway instead of staring back in silence.

Harbaugh is now catching flak on social media for having the personality of a potato chip. Regardless of who's taking the slings and arrows, Cowboys fans couldn't have asked for a better start to Giants camp. Week 1 might be even easier than we thought.
