The Dallas Cowboys, fresh off a well-regarded 2026 NFL Draft, have continued to bring in top talent on the undrafted free agent market. The crown jewel of this group is a tight end who managed to befuddle NFL Draft social media by not coming off the board in the first few rounds.

The Cowboys have agreed to sign former Baylor tight end Michael Trigg to a deal as an undrafted free agent, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Between Trigg and SMU wide receiver Jordan Hudson, Jerry Jones and Will McClay are doing everything they can to ensure that they keep all the best pass catchers in the state of Texas.

Trigg was viewed by some NFL Draft experts out there as a possible Top 100 pick, as he has the talent needed to become a genuine mismatch weapon in the passing game that few undrafted players can come close to equaling.

There are two big reasons Trigg went undrafted. On top of the fact he will likely never be a great blocker, Trigg led all tight ends in the country in drops and has shown that he isn't the sharpest route-runner for a pure pass-catching tight end. His athleticism is what will make or break his career.

Trigg has perhaps the best highlight reel of any non-Kenyon Sadiq prospect in this class, as his wide catch radius and outrageous body control make him a mismatch weapon. Trigg has flexed awesome movement skills in the open field and the ability to make plays as a runner.

Trigg has a shot to make the Cowboys' 53-man roster, as the tight end room behind Jake Ferguson stands out as one of the worst in the NFC. Ferguson is a reliable target over the middle, but he lacks Trigg's juice on the outside, and that could appeal to Brian Schottenheimer.

The Cowboys have been willing to let their UDFA players carve out some roles with on the active roster if they manage to flash enough, and Dallas may make the rest of the league look foolish if Trigg is able to match the same production he flexed with the Bears.
