Cowboys' next QB (if crazy Dak Prescott trade happens) is painfully obvious

The Dallas Cowboys might be willing to do anything to build a contender if things get desperate, including exploring the infinitesimally small possibility of making a trade that sends quarterback Dak Prescott away.

On the Bruce Drennan Show, the Cleveland-based host implied that the Browns are working through a deal that would send Prescott to northeast Ohio. Excluding the fact that this is laughably unrealistic given the fact Dallas would take on nearly $100 million in dead cap, Dallas likely isn't dying to get rid of the former All-Pro quarterback.

However, if there is one quarterback the Cowboys would be willing to slice off their proverbial left arm to acquire, it would be Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who is the son of franchise great Deion Sanders. The allure of getting a star and native son of Texas to Dallas might be too seductive for Jerry Jones to ignore.

With the Browns in possession of the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, there is a very small possibility that Jones becomes so enamored with Sanders that he flips Prescott in order to gain that pick and move forward with Sanders under center. In his old age, Jones might get desperate for a new winning formula.

Cowboys might consider Shedeur Sanders if they make crazy Dak Prescott trade

Had Dallas not given Prescott the big contract and put themselves in a position to be a bit more advantageous when it comes to finding young quarterbacks, the idea of making a trade that bring Sanders to Dallas may be a bit more feasible.

Ignoring the history between his father and the franchise, the fact that Sanders has spent so long in the public eye could make him a natural fit for the pressure cooker that is the Dallas quarterback position. On the field, Sanders profiles as a player who will have a long career as a solid, accurate starter.

In a very Doctor Strange-esque fashion, Jones must have got a glimpse of the one future out of 14 million in which Prescott gets traded to Cleveland and Shedeur comes to Dallas. Jones might be willing to overrule everyone else and go with the flashy move. Fans can't rule anything out.
