Cowboys' George Pickens would like a word with Stefon Diggs after recent comment

George Pickens helped turn the Dallas Cowboys' offense into an unstoppable machine in 2025. He quickly delivered on his trade value, finishing third in the NFL in receiving yards and racking up nine touchdowns. Pickens and CeeDee Lamb now form arguably the best receiving tandem in football.

Veteran wideout Stefon Diggs, brother of longtime Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, seemingly isn't impressed, though. The current free agent recently claimed that he's the best No. 2 receiver in the whole league.

"Everybody got a 1. Opportunities aside, people might say there's seven real 1s. In my opinion, I can compete with anybody, but take those as your 1s. You can't name a No. 2 better than me. There's not a No. 2 on a team," Diggs said. "Let's presumably give people the credit and just say, 'OK, you want to take the No. 1 spot away.' Name your No. 2 receiver right now. Tell me how much he makes. My last question is: Is he better than me?"

Pickens might like to have a word.

Dallas Cowboys' George Pickens is levels above Stefon Diggs despite recent comments

Diggs has remained unsigned deep into the offseason after spending one year with the New England Patriots. He's still a productive wideout, eclipsing 1,000 yards in 2025. But after what we saw last season, there's no argument to be made that the 32-year-old is better than Pickens.

Pickens may not even be the No. 2 on his own team. He outpaced Lamb on the stat sheet last season, though Lamb was held back by various injuries. But whoever the second wideout on the Cowboys' roster truly is, he's a few steps up from Diggs.

Our friend Adam Patrick over at The Viking Age, FanSided's dedicated Vikings page, challenged Diggs' notion by doing a bit of research. Of course, it was found that Pickens was head and shoulders above the pack in 2025, even when comparing him to the league's other elite WR2s.

Even before Pickens' breakout season in Dallas, he was outperforming Diggs. In his final season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the big wideout put up 900 yards despite missing three games. Before his season-ending injury, Diggs was on pace to finish below Pickens in yardage.

Pickens isn't just an elite No. 2 receiver; he's one of the best receivers in the NFL. After his breakout campaign, he's solidified himself as one of the league's top ten wideouts.

No matter where you rank the Cowboys' receiver tandem compared to the Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins and the Rams' Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, it's clear that both Dallas wideouts clear Diggs by a wide margin.

If Diggs does eventually sign with a team, it won't take long for his claim to look even more outrageous. In the meantime, though, Pickens would surely like a word with Diggs about his recent comments, which don't even approach the truth.
