3 reasons the Cowboys will beat the Giants on Thanksgiving
By Mark Heaney
1. Great Defense Beats Mediocre Offense
The Giants offense is either in the middle, or in the bottom half of the league in total offensive statistics, and passing offense. Quite frankly, they have struggled to move the ball through the air.
This does not mean things will be easy for the Dallas defense, however, as New York really makes their mark in the running game. They have the fourth-most rushing yards of any team in the league.
That said, it seems like the Cowboys defense, specifically Parsons, has returned. After a lackluster performance in Green Bay, they absolutely dominated the Vikings, allowing just three points, 110 passing yards, and 73 rushing yards.
Across the board, there was nothing Minnesota could do. The game planning by DC Dan Quinn was fantastic, the secondary (especially Trevon Diggs) balled out, and the pass rush was the best it has been all year long.
It was an electric performance that shut the Vikings down completely, so much so in fact that CBS moved off the game in the third quarter.
If the Cowboys brings that level of energy on defense this week, it could be a long, long day for New York. The only positive of the day for the Giants could end up being the Texas Thanksgiving dinner in the locker room.
