1. Mike McCarthy is 3-1 in the past two years against the Eagles

Mike McCarthy has been highly criticized since taking the head coaching job in Dallas. But if we sit back and look, he’s really had a lot to overcome.

In his first season with the Cowboys, he lost Dak Prescott in Week 5 to a broken ankle. He then had to shuffle the deck and use players such as Andy Dalton, Ben DiNucci, and even Garrett Gilbert at one point just to make it through the season.

He did have Prescott back for 16 games in 2021 but had to go out against the Minnesota Vikings with Cooper Rush, and they got a big win. Now, Rush is set for his fifth-straight start this season as McCarthy is entering his 17th game without his starting quarterback.

Despite this, he has a record of 22-16 over the past two-plus seasons and has done a good job cleaning up some of their penalties this year as well. But where he’s really stood out is in beating divisional rivals, including the Eagles.

McCarthy enters Sunday with a 3-1 record against Philly while on the sideline for Big D — and their last win was a big one.

The one loss under McCarthy happened to be the time he had to start DiNucci, but when he has a competent starter, he usually wins.

Rush has proven himself to be exactly that and the combination should be enough to give fans hope that America’s Team can improve to 5-1.
