The Dallas Cowboys have arguably one of the most recognizable logos and uniforms in all of sports. The Star is well-known around the world and is a staple in sports culture.

This 2022 season, the Cowboys will be featuring not one (as initially reported), but two unique uniform changes. Back in July, the team revealed that they would be bringing back their beloved throwback uniforms for their Thanksgiving matchup against the New York Giants — including both the jersey and the white helmet, marking the first time the team has gone full throwback since 2012.

With the new, more relaxed NFL rules around helmets, many teams have been given more creative freedom to come up with different jersey and helmet combinations to add some style points to the NFL season.

Last week, we found out that the Thanksgiving game won’t be the only change. The Cowboys revealed a never-before-seen “Arctic” helmet that the team plans to wear in the Week 17 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. A video revealing the new helmet was tweeted out by the Cowboys’ social media team.

The Dallas Cowboys unveil their new “arctic” helmet to be worn during Week 17 against the Titans

This makes the Cowboys the only team in the NFL to wear two alternate helmets this season.

The new lids will be worn as part of the color rush uniform and jersey. These helmets are similar to the the throwback with some slight differences.

This brand-new helmet has a white shell (like the throwbacks) and a white facemask. The Cowboys have never worn a helmet with a non-gray facemask before. It also has the current star logo, unlike the throwback one that doesn’t have the thin blue and white border around the star.

Many are excited to see a new lid to go with the color rush uniforms. The color rush jerseys seem to be fan favorite, especially since there are some conspiracies out there that the Cowboys have terrible luck when wearing navy blue jerseys.

Leave it to the Cowboys to be the only NFL team to find a way to get two new looks in 2022.
