Prediction: Dalton Schultz emerges as top TE

Having two starting-caliber tight ends on your roster is a good problem to have. And the Cowboys certainly have that in Blake Jarwin and Dalton Schultz.

Jarwin is coming off an ACL injury that limited him to a single game in 2020. And Schultz proved himself to be a quality starter in his place. Now, these two will be vying for playing time against each other.

Jarwin inked a four-year deal worth up to $24.25 million last March. While Schultz is currently in the final year of his rookie deal which will make him an unrestricted free agent in 2022.

Coming off a season-ending injury, we can envision a slow start for Jarwin. And based on Schultz’s rapid development from last season, we can see him overtaking Jarwin for a bigger role in the offense this year.

If this prediction comes true, that means the Cowboys’ brass might have a major decision to make about the future of the tight end position next offseason. But, for now, we’re just happy to have both of them on the roster.
