At this point, it seems unlikely that defensive tackle Trysten Hill will make the team’s 53-man roster at the end of August. Starting his first training camp under Dan Quinn on the Physically Unable to Perform list, it appears to be a strong possibility that Hill could start the regular season on the PUP list as well. But that may only delay his eventual judgment day.

No one player was likely hurt more by the combination of injury and offseason additions than Hill. The former second-rounder is coming off a season that was cut short due to an ACL injury he suffered in Week Five. Prior to that, Hill was coming off a disappointing rookie season where he struggled to get on the field, recording a mere five total tackles in seven games.

This offseason, the Cowboys hired their third defensive coordinator in as many years in Quinn. And the former Atlanta Falcons head coach brought a slew of new faces to man the interior of his defensive line. Those names include Brent Urban, Carlos Watkins, Osa Odighizuwa, and Quinton Bohanna. All of whom have been healthy and participating in camp.

Throw in an ascending player at the position in Neville Gallimore entering his second season, a solid camp performance from Justin Hamilton, combined with a severe lack of sponsorship and there suddenly seems to be no more room on the roster for the Cowboys’ former top selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
