While the Cowboys seemingly have a surplus of linebacker talent, they also possess one of the most stacked wide receiver corps in the entire NFL. This unit is headlined by a top-tier trio of wideouts in Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb.

The Cowboys also have some outstanding depth at the position like Cedrick Wilson Jr., Noah Brown, Malik Turner, and fifth-round rookie Simi Fehoko. And it’s this depth that might make the Cowboys willing to part ways with one of their best players for someone like cornerback Xavien Howard.

The obvious choice here is Gallup. Possessing number one wide receiver attributes, he’s the most likely trade candidate as he’s entering the final year of his rookie deal in Dallas. And with Cooper on a long-term contract and Lamb entering only his second season, it’s unclear whether the Cowboys will choose to spend the money to retain Gallup next offseason.

In Miami, Gallup would be a perfect complement to Jaylen Waddle, the Alabama wide receiver that the Dolphins drafted sixth overall in April. But if Dallas is planning on keeping Gallup after this season, perhaps Cooper is the name the team might consider parting ways with in exchange for an All-Pro cornerback. Especially if the team believes Lamb is ready to take his place.
