Anthony Brown, Cornerback

Anthony Brown making this list has less to do with his play and everything to do with cornerback Jourdan Lewis. And the fact Brown is a free agent in 2020.

A sixth-round selection in 2016 out of Purdue, Brown was a legit draft steal, having now started a total of 33 games during his four-year career in Dallas.

But the Cowboys have handed out some massive contracts to players like running back Ezekiel Elliott, linebacker Jaylon Smith, and offensive tackle La’el Collins recently. And Dallas still have Pro Bowlers in quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver Amari Cooper, and cornerback Byron Jones to secure.

As the team’s fourth cornerback, and considering the excellent play we are seeing out of Jourdan Lewis who posted 2.0 sacks against the Bills on Thursday, it seems likely the Cowboys will not re-sign Brown next year. They’ll probably allow him to simply hit the open market as a free agent.

Before suffering a season-ending triceps injury earlier this month, Brown had started just four games for the Cowboys in 2019. He recorded 17 total tackles, five pass defends, and had no interceptions.
