Dallas Cowboys: 5 trades we’d love to see America’s Team make
Geno Atkins, DT – Cincinnati Bengals
The Cowboys felt that getting another pass-rushing defensive tackle in this system was so important they ignored three potential playmaking safeties to draft UCF’s Trysten Hill with their first selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, Hill hasn’t developed as quickly as the team likely hoped, starting the season as a healthy scratch and recording a single tackle in four games.

In a contract year, this was supposed to be a breakout season for former 2016 third-round defensive tackle Maliek Collins. He’s recorded just 10 total tackles and 2.0 sacks in seven games.
Does anyone else wonder what this Cowboys defensive would actually look like with a double-digit sacker lining up at defensive tackle? If Dallas was able to pull off a trade for seven-time Pro Bower Geno Atkins, we’d all find out.
The Cincinnati Bengals are currently 0-8. They have a new head coach in Zac Taylor. Perhaps the Bengals are preparing to rebuild and will need draft capital to do so. Moving on from a 31-year old defensive tackle who is on the hook to make more than $35 million in base salary over the next three years makes sense.
In exchange, the Cowboys would be getting an interior force who has racked up a whopping 42.0 sacks over the past four and a half seasons. Granted, the financial costs are a major stumbling block here. But if Atkins is willing to work with the team contract-wise in order to play for a contender like Dallas, this could be a future Hall of Fame-level addition.
