Karl Joseph, S – Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders opted not to pick up the fifth-year option on former first-round safety Karl Joseph this offseason. So the 26-year old defender is scheduled to become a free agent in 2020.

The Raiders currently have a record of 3-4. But their season is far from over with both the 2-6 Denver Broncos and 3-5 Los Angeles Chargers struggling. And the NFC West-leading 5-3 Kansas City Chiefs are currently playing without star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

All that being said, the Raiders are still in second place within their division and that makes them less likely to want to move on from a seven-game starter who ranks second on the team with 37 total tackles. Still, Joseph’s name was a hot one prior to the start of the season as a potential trade target.

As we’ve discussed before, the Cowboys do not seem to put much stock in acquiring first-round level talent at the safety position like Joseph. But if Dallas suddenly has a change of heart, the 26-year old would be an instant replacement for starter Jeff Heath and could earn himself a long-term deal in Big D.
