#3 – The Cowboys defense can cause turnovers

Entering their Week Five matchup against the Houston Texans, the Cowboys were the only team in the NFL not to have registered a single interception. Now they have a pick in back-to-back games.

Against the Jaguars, safety Jeff Heath was able to pick off a deflected Blake Bortles pass off the butterfingers of cornerback Byron Jones. Heath nearly returned the interception for a defensive touchdown.

Along with the interception, Dallas was also to get a takeaway on a forced fumble by linebacker Jaylon Smith. Cornerback Jourdan Lewis was able to recover the ball just a split second before his free hand slid out of bounds.

Despite their success getting takeaways against the struggling Jaguars, Dallas is still one of the worst teams in the NFL in causing turnovers. They ranked a lowly 31st in total takeaways with only four prior to their matchup with Jacksonville.

That status will surely go up after posting two takeaways against the Jags, but it’s still a very low number considering the Cowboys field such an effective pass rush.
