#2 – Dak Prescott plays best when he’s a running threat

Against the New York Giants in Week Two, the Cowboys offense really started to click with they focused on the run-pass option.

More from The Landry Hat

But in the following games, Dallas went away from the RPO, likely in an effort to protect Dak Prescott from possible injury.

Against the Jaguars, the Cowboys gave Prescott free rein to run the football. And Dak set a career-high in rushing with 82 yards on 11 carries. Prescott’s ability as a rushing threat really appeared to be the catalyst for this stagnate offense.

Behind Prescott’s legs, Dallas was successfully able to run bootlegs, run the football, the jet sweep and even complete some long passes down the field.

Utilizing Prescott’s athleticism seems to be the key to this offense. Obviously, it not ideal for keeping your quarterback upright and injury-free. But Prescott simply does not have the talent around him to post a successful passing game any other way.

The Cowboys must continue to run Dak Prescott until they can restore this depleted offensive line and get him some much-needed outside help on his receiver corps.
