#1 – Cole Beasley can get open

He told us the Cowboys receivers were getting open. And if Sunday was any indication, he was right. Well, at least right about himself. Wide receiver Cole Beasley lead Dallas with nine catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns against the Jaguars.

Beasley was coming off a one catch performance against the Texans, with that lone reception actually coming in overtime. In fact, the 29-year old wideout has struggled for much of the season, averaging just 2.5 catches per game after Week One.

Despite Beasley’s success, the rest of the Cowboys wide receiver corps struggled against Jacksonville. Tavon Austin, Deonte Thompson and rookie Michael Gallup all record just one reception each. And despite being targeted five times, Allen Hurns failed to make a single catch against his former team.

Instead, it was the Cowboys tight ends who stepped up. Geoff Swaim racked up two catches for 22 yards. Swaim had three receptions for 55 yards against the Texans in Week Five. And Rico Gathers brought in the second catch of his career, a 14-yarder.

Cole Beasley had a great game for the Cowboys. But when opposing defenses start to double-team him, another receiver will need to step up for Dallas.
