#4 – Allen Hurns is not going to last long in Dallas

The Cowboys have had a horrific history of bringing in terrible free agents. Names like cornerback Nolan Carroll, defensive end Damontre Moore, and defensive tackle Cedric Thornton are just some recent examples. Well now it appears wide receiver Allen Hurns can be added to that growing list.

More from Cowboys News

The Jaguars released the overpaid 26-year old Hurns in late March and the Cowboys promptly signed him to a two-year deal worth $12 million.

But there seems to be a real possibility the fifth-year receiver doesn’t even finish the season in Dallas as he’s posted just eight catches in six games.

Against his former team on Sunday, Hurns was targeted five times. Yet, he was held without a catch and nearly had the ball intercepted in the endzone.

The veteran receiver has not been able to find a place for himself within this receiver corps. And the fact Hurns had some critical comments about the offense last week hasn’t helped his cause.

With the trade deadline approaching at the end of the month, it could be Hurns looking for a new home if Dallas opts to make a move for a wide receiver.

Prior to Sunday’s contest, Hurns had a catch percentage of 47.1. And after his failure to bring in a single catch against his former team, that percentage will actually drop. Signing Hurns appears to have been a huge mistake for Dallas as he appears to be just another guy, and not the player who posted 64 receptions for 1,031 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2015.
