#3 – Deonte Thompson leads the Cowboys in receptions

Through the first two games of the Cowboys regular season, there has likely been no bigger surprise than the emergence of wideout Deonte Thompson as quarterback Dak Prescott‘s go-to receiver. That’s due in large part to the fact an Achilles injury sidelined Thompson for most of training camp.

Initially thought to be the Cowboys best hope for a deep threat, Thompson has shown to be much more. The seven-year veteran is tied for the second most targets on the team with 10. Thompson recorded four catches for 33 yards against the New York Giants on Sunday night, the highest total for any Dallas receiver.

The signing of Brice Butler this past week further limits the opportunities for receivers across the board in Big D. And that could result in running back Ezekiel Elliott leading the team in receptions again, which he did in Week Two.

But if one receiver does emerge as the Cowboys reception leader against the Seahawks, my money is on Thompson.
