A First Look at Dez Bryant as a Cowboy

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 11 Comments

By: Joe D. According to early reports  at the rookie practice, Dez Bryant is a spectacular player that catches everything in sight… and he is out of shape taking so many breaks that it calls attention to itself. There is no reason to press the panic button.  It is only one week after the draft, a heck of a celebration party, a week of press conferences, and dealing with a salacious story.  But it is only 82 degree in Dallas, with 62% humidity.  That is about as nice as the weather gets in Texas.  There were earlier reports of Bryant having an irregular [...]

Expect a HUGE 2010 Season From Roy E. Williams

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys, Draft, Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: 25 Comments

By: Joe D. Roy Williams is an enigma.  He has all the necessary skills and talent to play at a high level in the NFL.  He had one season with the Detroit Lions which was spectacularly productive, but he has wilted with the Dallas Cowboys.  Outside of becoming a Super Bowl MVP, he will likely never “earn” the money given to him in his contract or be worth the draft picks that were traded to obtain him. There is a reason to believe that 2010 will be one to remember for Williams.   Roy Williams is now expendable.  With Dallas drafting Dez Bryant, [...]

Dez’s Momma is So Slutty That…

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Cowboys, Draft | COMMENTS: 12 Comments

By Joe D. … I could’ve been his daddy, but the guy in line behind me had the correct change. Unfortunately, this is what scouting for the NFL draft has come to.  During a pre-draft visit, Jeff Ireland asked Bryant whether his mother was a prostitute.  It isn’t uncommon for scouts and team personnel to attempt to illicit a reaction from a player to see how they respond to either confrontation or adversity.  This certainly seems outside the bounds of good taste.  If Bryant would reacted negatively, would anyone hold it against him?  Dez did respond: “No, my mom is not [...]

Dallas’ 2010 NFL Draft Grade

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys, Draft | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Written by theMBIIIeffect Cowboys fans were expecting a lot from this year’s draft after last year after Jerry Jones shipped out first and third round picks to Detroit in exchange for Roy Williams. Then the Cowboys traded out of the second round and ultimately out of the possibility of any drafted players making big contributions on the field (John Phillips’ 48 catches, 385 yards and 2 touchdowns not included). It was anything but exciting. This year, Jones and company decided to take a different direction. #24 OVERALL: Dez Bryant, Oklahoma State Grade: A It doesn’t get much better in the first [...]

Draft Grades for Cowboys and 2010 Opponents

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

By Joe D. The following are the draft grades issued immediately after the 2010 NFL Draft for the Cowboys.  The Cowboys’s 2010 opponents are also listed. Where a grade is not listed, the source has not released the information yet.  There is some analysis of whether the opponents drafted impact players who will contribute in a game against the Cowboys.  While other contributing writers to The Landry Hat may elect to give draft grades, I feel only one grade is appropriate, “Incomplete”.  Not one ball has been caught for a first down, not one over exuberant touchdown celebration has been performed, and [...]

Rolle Drafted in 6th Round – Proof That Prejudice is Still Alive?

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

By Joe D. By now most people are fully aware of how Myron Rolle plummeted down the draft.  Did he have a DUI, did he quit on his team, was he suspended by the NCAA?  No, his offense was being over hyped!  Rolle is a brilliant person.  He is a Rhodes Scholar and has aspirations to be a neurosurgeon.  Rolle was never a potential first round draft pick.  Even his coach at Florida State, Bobby Bowden, was hesitant to praise Rolle. “Well, I think if he had played another year, I think he definitely could have benefited,” Bowden says. “I would [...]

Meet Jay Ratliff 2.0

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 16 Comments

By: Joe D. Read the analysis of our 7th round draft pick, Sean Lissemore, and tell me who comes to mind. Per SI: 7th round pick Positives: Explosive one-gap tackle best in a straight line. Plays with good pad level, displays terrific first step quickness, and keeps his feet driving up the field. Plays with a non-stop motor and chases the action. Bends his knees, rarely off his feet, and flashes power in his lower body. Negatives: Possesses an average change of direction and limited abilities making plays laterally. Lacks bulk for an interior lineman. Analysis: Lissemore’s a small but fiery defensive lineman [...]

Cowboys Draft Jamar Wall (Cornerback) w/ Second 6th Round Pick

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 11 Comments

By Joe D. Per SI.com Negatives: Marginal speed, gets beaten down the field and cannot recover. Does not always position himself correctly against opponents. A man goes to a $5 prostitute and tells her that she gave him crabs.  She asks, “For $5 whadja expect, lobster?”  There are some gems to be taken, so hopefully everyone is mistake about Wall.

Cowboys Finally Draft a Tackle: Sam Young

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 12 Comments

By Joe D. With the 179th overall pick the Cowboys selected Sam Young from Notre Dame.  He’s a four year starter and seemingly has more negatives than positives.  We are in the 6th round of the draft, so you can’t expect to draft a polished player.

Cowboys Trade Down with Dolphins; Drafted Akwasi Owusu-Ansah at 126

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

By Joe D. The Dallas Cowboys traded their 4th round pick (119 overall) to the Miami Dolphins and received a 4th round pick (126th overall) as well as a 6th round pick (179 overall) in this years draft. With the 126th pick, the Cowboys selected Akwasi Owusu-Ansah.  He is listed as a cornerback, but is projected as a safety in the NFL.  He is a small school player with impressive return skills.  The Landry Hat, through the aid of a holistic healers and voodoo, had an article regarding Ansah.
