The odds are in and the Cleveland Browns are a four point underdog to beat the Dallas Cowboys in Cleveland. The game begins Sunday at 4:15 p.m.
I will be in San Fransisco for a week starting Tuesday, which will make it more difficult for me to see the game, but hopefully it airs nationally and I can pick it up at some bar.
The game is the most intriguing of the first-week match ups in my opinion. Cleveland was a surprising team last year, chiefly because of the spectacular play of quarterback Derek Anderson.
The Vegas oddsmakers also expect a high-scoring affair, [...]

No one is really celebrating the fact that Keith Davis is back with the Dallas Cowboys. The special team’s pro who also plays safety has been the Cowboys best special teams guy for years. Some were shellshocked when he was released and signed by the Miami Dolphins, one of like a million former players and coaches new GM Bill Parcells stole in his migration to Florida.
So what happened? Brian at PhinPhanatic says the Dolphins cuts are no surprises. But this is. Why was Davis cut after signing a contract with Miami? No one seems to know.
With the Cowboys signing him, [...]
The Dallas Cowboys didn’t make any incredibly surprising cuts today, but they did make themselves very thin at wide receiver going into the first game of the season.
Maybe most surprising was the cut of sixth round pick Erik Walden, a Middle Tennessee State linebacker whom Dallas Morning News said was one of the most under rated guys in the draft. Oh really?
It will be a mystery who fills the third quarterback slot as the Cowboys also released Richard Bartel. Those who loved undersized Danny Amendola are disappointed to see he did not make the team, leaving with receivers Todd Lowber [...]
For the first time in his illustrious career, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten will start as a wide receiver. Sam Hurd, who would have been the third wide receiver, is out with a high-ankle sprain suffered during Thursday’s game against the Vikings.
In fact, Witten is already the second-favorite choice of quarterback Tony Romo, but rarely is Witten playing in the slot.
What this also means is rookie Martellus Bennett, who came around in the second half of training camp to impress coaches enough to think he can start right away, should see some significant playing time at tight end. Bennett, [...]
Bobby “Barbie” Carpenter
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Bobby Carpenter is trying real hard to become the hard-hitting impact player you expect out of a first-round draft pick. To date, he has not impressed anyone.
But this year, those who have had inside looks of him at camp say he is pushing hard and looking good. He is pushing so hard that he is pissing off his fellow teammates, especially the offensive lineman. All of this was shown in detail during the last episode of Hard Knocks. If you missed it, here you go:

Roger Goodell has given Adam Jones a second chance in the NFL. This time, he will play for the Dallas Cowboys, America’s Team.
Jones is rusty and it may take him a few games, possibly even half the season, for him to get back into tip-top pass coverage shape. But let it be known that he will return to the top-tier of cornerbacks in the NFL, which is exactly what the Cowboys need.
In other news, third wide receiver Sam Hurd sprained his ankle in a meaningless preseason game against the meaningless Vikings, you know, the team that has a blogger who [...]
This is getting kind of old, but another blogger exhibits ignorance in this post attacking All-Pro Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten. But this post deserves urgent response because it is completely off base. He opines that Witten is a bad guy a-hole for abruptly responding to rookie tight end Martellus Bennett. This is what we would call crooked, yellow journalism.
What the blogger doesn’t know is Martellus Bennet has been a big disappointment so far. He’s childish and lazy, and HBO’s Hard Knocks program has focused on him quite a bit because they know he is struggling.
So, when the kid [...]
Tony Romo better get a home designer ASAP who likes blue and silver. Pictures of Romo’s new home are plastered all over the Internet. There are not any Dallas Cowboys star or colors anywhere in the house. Instead, it’s all black and white, with one of the most awkward master bathroom setups I have ever seen. Apparently, he only paid $699,000 for the home near Valley Ranch. Let’s take a look:
Every year there is a player who surprises fantasy football team owners. Last year, it was players such as Tom Brady, Tony Romo, Randy Moss and rookie Adrian Peterson who scored loads of points, yet they were not drafted in the first two rounds in most leagues. Many who selected Romo in the late rounds ended up winning the jackpot in their leagues. I am one of those guys.
Here is a list of my surprises and busts for NFC teams this coming season:
