Adam Schefter is at it again. Check out his latest post here about potential landing pads for embattled Miami Dolphins end, and Dancing with the Stars tiptoes, Jason Taylor.
Here is one of the five teams he can envision Taylor with:

Link-A-Rama Wrap Up

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

Continuing my weekly series, here is a wrap up of what other teams int he NFL are doing/saying:
Our first opponent of the year, Cleveland Browns, are trying to improve its secondary, too. Read it here.
Colts blog, Naptown’s Finest is back in business here. I think the Colts will see the beginning of the downfall of its franchise this season.
Riggo’s Rag thinks the acquisition of Erasmus James is genius. We think he is dumb. Read it here.
Inside the Iggles thinks giving a mediocre general manager an extension is going to somehow improve the Eagles. We think he is dumb, too. Read [...]

Coaches Cover For Roy Williams

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

There’s more to that headline than you think. Dallas Cowboys safety Roy Williams continues to take heat from the blogosphere and the big-bad press.
But his coaches are having none of it. Head Coach Wade Phillips is quoted in the Associated Press saying he hates to hear Williams get bashed. To recap, Greg Ellis and Terence Newman have each opined on Williams’ play.

No Need To Criticize Greg Ellis This Time

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 16 Comments

Greg Ellis, the Dallas Cowboys linebacker, refused to participate in the last day of team practice today, apparently because he is mad about “his reputations being reduced” according to  Dallas Morning News.
Last year, I hammered Ellis pretty hard for his attitude during camp, and he turned out to have a terrific season. I am not going to make that same mistake. I actually like a player getting irritated because the coaches won’t let him work hard.  The coaches are trying to give second-year pro Anthony Spencer more time on the practice field, and that means less time for Ellis.
Head Coach [...]

Pacman May Get Shot If He Screws Up

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 20 Comments

Adam “Pacman” Jones literally has no room to screw up now. The Dallas Cowboys have him under 24-hour surveillance with a security team. Apparently, the top security guy is impressed with Pacman, and believes he is ready to succeed.
Hashmarks has a scoop on it here.
NFL teams often hire retired police officers and FBI agents to head their security departments. The retired officers usually have ties to local law enforcement. Not everyone thinks this is a healthy arrangement. In this case, the Cowboys have much to gain if Jones realizes his potential as a dynamic return specialist and talented cover corner. [...]

Terence Newman Joins Roy Williams Bash Festival

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: None Yet

Add Dallas Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman to the host of teammates who have bashed safety Roy Williams. This has not been a good off-season for Williams.
During an interview on Fox 4 in Dallas, Newman said Williams once showed coverage skills earlier in his career.
“He’s the same guy, I think, he just sometimes gets kind of a deer in the headlights reaction, some plays. … He had a bad season last year, as far as coverage.”
Although Newman defended Williams by saying he does not think he is a “liability” in the secondary, he also said:
“He’s got to keep his weight down [...]

Dallas Cowboys Make Buds With Miller Brewing Company

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Dallas Cowboys agreed to extend for 10 years its exclusive contract with Miller Brewing Company. You can read an article about it here. There is no inside information about the deal yet from this Miller-run blog.
Apparently, the Cowboys will get $80 million for the branding deal. That’s almost enough to probably pay its bond debt on the new $1 billion stadium financing. Maybe Jerry Jones paid cash for that stadium, who knows.
Miller Brewing Company says Texas is its most important market, and “no property in the country matches the Cowboys in terms of local and national reach.” How true [...]

Oakland Raiders Making Push For Terrell Owens In 2009?

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: None Yet

Despite the body language and his own words that he wants to retire a Dallas Cowboy, Terrell Owens may have some takers if he is not provided an extension in 2009.
I came across this column today that opens a can of worms on the impending future of Owens in the blue and silver. The writer is offering pure speculation, and possibly even prayers, but what he inadvertently does is make me wonder: What exactly will the Cowboys do with Owens at the end of this season, considering the team just spent mad money on contracts for Tony Romo, Marion Barber, [...]

Dallas Cowboys Wide Receiver Hoopla Is Hyperbole

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

It seems ESPN’s John Clayton believes the Dallas Cowboys’ decision not to find a high-profile wide receiver will be costly. You can read Clayton’s take here.
Costly when? Why is it that these high-paid pundits of the game forget so easily? The Cowboys had one of the most high-powered offenses in the NFL last year. Terry Glenn didn’t play a game. Although Patrick Crayton’s lackadaisical playoff performance and Anthony Fasano’s dropped touchdown pass proved costly, the offense was still stacked thanks to Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Marion Barber and Terrell Owens.
Deciding not to grab a wide receiver won’t prove costly this [...]

Who’s Who At Wide Receiver. Who Cares?

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

The Dallas Cowboys coaches are counting on two unorthodox situations to provide a boost to an already potent offense. One situation is there is talk that Adam “Pacman” Jones is going to play some snaps at wide receiver. The Pacman idea is certainly more unorthodox than the other situation, which is the Cowboys are really hoping they have the comeback player of the year on the team: Terry Glenn.
With bad knees, and a ton of talent, Glenn’s contribution this year, if any, may be the most anticipated of any player on the team. He played just one regular season game [...]
