Bush Whacks Tony Romo

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 21 Comments

The New York Giants visited the White House today so President George W. Bush could honor the Super Bowl champions in person. Instead, he decided to take a jab at Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
“We’re going to send Jessica Simpson to the Democrat National Convention,” he said, with the Giants team, minus Michael Strahan and Jeremy Shockey, standing behind him.
That’s just great. Even the president is getting in on the Simpson-Romo frenzy. It’s not even funny anymore. It’s less funny coming from one of, if not the, worst presidents in American history.

Lions Are ‘Stupid’

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 10 Comments

Only in Detroit would there be a newspaper headline using the word “Stupid.”
But according to Drew Sharp with the Detroit Free Press, “It makes no sense that Roy Williams is still a Lion.”
I am not sure what makes less sense: That Roy Williams is still a Lion or that the Dallas Cowboys did not draft a wide receiver, even with the glut of high-profile players who fell deep into the second and third rounds.  Although there were reports that the Cowboys did discuss moving up in the second round to draft James Hardy, they just didn’t show any interest in [...]

Do The Cowboys Want Chris Simms?

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Chris Simms, the son of NY Giants great Phil Simms, is being thrown in as a possible pick up for the back up quarterback role for the Dallas Cowboys.
The 27-year-old Tampa Bay Bucs back up quarterback is in his fifth NFL season. His best year was in 2005, when he started 11 games, throwing for 10 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He showed flashes of his pop that year, with a 61 percent completion percentage but he couldn’t hold onto his job after flopping the next year. Since then, he hasn’t seen much playtime.
There is one thing I like about Simms [...]

Philadelphia Eagles Need To Get a Life

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 28 Comments

The Philadelphia Eagles just cannot get over the Terrell Owens saga.  The team’s brass is so angry that T.O. moved on and continued his success that they constantly harass the star receiver.
This time, it is still about the money. This article says the Eagles are still trying to pull the bonus money they gave T.O. in a signed contract.
The NFL players’ union filed a grievance on Owens’ behalf claiming that the wide receiver should not have had to repay the money, but arbitrator Shyam Das ruled in the Eagles’ favor in late January of this year. The Eagles’ complaint, [...]

Dallas Cowboys Bank on Terry Glenn

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 37 Comments

Without a wide receiver drafted this weekend, it seems Jerry Jones is banking on Terry Glenn as the receiver who will take some of the pressure of Terrell Owens.
Forget about trades and rumors and the “what ifs” because right now, all we have is Terry Glenn and Patrick Crayton.
We’ve all talked since Sunday afternoon about how the Dallas Cowboys passed on Mario Manningham and Andre Caldwell for some unknown reason. But am I the only one who realizes just how important it is to provide another threat on the other side of Owens?
Without that threat, decent opposing secondaries have a [...]

It’s Our Choice

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 11 Comments

Tashard Choice is getting some attention now that he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys last night. The Georgia Tech star is being called a “gem” by some columnists. He certainly provides some depth at the running back position that we lacked with Julius Jones and Tyson Thompson.
But it appears Choice brings something else to the table: heart and leadership. This youtube video I am going to show is running through the blogosphere now that Choice is in the NFL. You’ll see right away that this kid has emotion and a chip on his shoulder. The Yellow Jackets were playing [...]

Blogger Says Mike Jenkins Might Be Bust Jenkins

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 15 Comments

I was searching around the Internet tonight in a sleepless zone and came  across this blog that isn’t incredibly high on Mike Jenkins, the South Florida corner the Dallas Cowboys drafted with the 25th pick. I’m not sure how credible he is, and even his blog post has some contradictions in it, but I thought it was important to at least note what he says:
Cover-2 teams will be high on him due to his size, closing speed and press abilities, but he is too weak against the run.  He could fit in a man scheme with his speed but unless [...]

Dallas Cowboys Sign Marcus Dixon To Deal

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Marcus Dixon could use a new lease on life. The Hampton defensive end was supposed to be a force to be reckoned with at Vanderbilt University. But his world came crashing down when he was charged with rape of a 15-year-old girl. Reports are he and the girl has sex in an empty classroom. The girl cried rape; Dixon said it was consensual.
Dixon was later acquitted of the rape charge but he spent 18 months in prison for other charges that were later found to be levied unfairly. Here is a snippet from the NYT article:
The case went to trial, [...]

Dallas Cowboys Sign A Wide Receiver!!!

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

It’s not Chad Johnson. It’s not Roy Williams. No, it’s not Anquan Boldin.
Meet Danny Amendola, the Dallas Cowboys new wide receiver. The Cowboys may not have drafted any wide receiver, but they grabbed Amendola from the college free agent pool.
Some bloggers are saying this guy is supposed to be the next Wes Welker. Well, if he was, he would have at least been drafted as Mr. Irrelevant. He wasn’t. But I guess he could be.
The Texas Tech senior is small, at 5′10″, and about 185 pounds. Scouting reports are that he is elusive with reliable hands. He’s a decent route [...]

Dallas Cowboys Make No Splashes On Draft Day 2

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

Jerry Jones was in a trading move Sunday for Day 2 of the NFL draft. He traded away picks three times in the third and fourth rounds. He allowed Mario Manningham, Andre Caldwell, Justin King and Reggie Smith to pass by, upsetting and confusing a lot of Cowboys fans.
Let’s take a look at the players the Cowboys did draft:
Tashard Choice, running back, Georgia Tech: Choice is the second running back that the Cowboys drafted over the weekend. He’s scored 22 touchdowns for GT in just two years, both times rushing for more than 1200 yards. He lacks agility and [...]
