Jason Ferguson Traded

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

Brian at Phin Phanatic is reporting that Ferguson has been traded to Miami for a swap of 6th round picks this year and a 6th round pick next year. So, Dallas basically gets the first pick in the 6th round and a 6th rounder in 2009.
Hey, we cannot complain. Ferguson just wasn’t needed after the Ratliff signing.
Go ahead and comment away folks. I am at work and need to get busy.

Jason Ferguson On Trade Block. The Landry Hat Says Do It!

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

A reader asked me to opine on this rumor today. It’s an easy one in my opinion. Jason Ferguson, a nose tackle who injured his bicep in the first game of the 2007 season, is a good player coming off a pretty serious injury.
The Cowboys had surprising, at times amazing, play from Jay Ratliff. The Cowboys also have Tank Johnson. It seems like a no-brainer to me. If Miami wants Ferguson and is willing to give up a draft pick, do it.
Ferguson is coming of an injury and Ratliff is coming off a great season. There is no reason to [...]

Flo Signs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 98 Comments

In what has been a very pleasant day in Dallas Cowboys land, we now get word from Nick Eatman that offensive tackle Flozell Adams has signed a six-year deal with the team. This ensures Adams will retire as a Cowboy.
This news comes after the Cowboys decided to give Marion Barber a high tender of $2.8 million which means any team that wants him will have to cough up 1st and 3rd round picks. This is some insurance that Barber will remain a Cowboy for at least another year.
I am very surprised that Adams is signed. As I blogged earlier, [...]

The Landry Hat Challenges Clarence Hill To Explain Report!!

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 26 Comments

Read the middle of this story and tell me why Star Telegram reporter Clarence E. Hill Jr. doesn’t owe all of us die-hard Dallas Cowboys fans an apology. Here, let me pull out the problematic statement he makes as fact in his article that ran on Feb. 27.
RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS
Running back Marion Barber
Contrary to earlier reports, the Cowboys will give Barber a first-round tender at $2.017 million, which would net them a first-round pick if he goes to another team, rather than the high tender of $2.56 million, which would have returned a first- and third-round pick.
It turns out today [...]

Marion Barber Gets High Tender; Star Telegram Is Garbage Paper

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Star Telegram is a horrible newspaper. I mean what the hell! They report that Marion Barber will get a first round tender, scare all of us half to death, and it’s bull shit?
Yeah, to say I am mad is saying it lightly. And they are supposed to be the “media” that reports facts. I almost threw my computer against the wall.
I have good news to report, from here.
Marion Barber gets the high tender of $2.5 million, which means any team that wants him will have to give up 1st and 3rd round picks. That’s great news and it means [...]

Marion Barber Gets 1st Round Tender-UPDATED

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Breaking News, Cowboys | COMMENTS: 16 Comments

OK, folks, this makes no sense. The Dallas Cowboys will give Marion Barber a first-round tender for $2.017 million. This means if Barber gets an offer the Cowboys cannot match, the Cowboys gets a 1st round draft pick.
But for only $500,000 more, the Cowboys could have gotten a 1st and 3rd round pick for Barber if he left for a large offer.
What does this mean? Well, it could mean several things, but none of them is good. I think there are plenty of teams willing to give up a 1st round pick for Barber. Any team in my mock draft [...]

Thursday Is “The Day”

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 13 Comments

When I say “The Day” I mean free agency starts if players, whether restricted or unrestricted, are tendered or signed. We have Flozell Adams, Marion Barber, Chris Canty, Keith Davis are among some of the Dallas Cowboys who may not be on the team this season.
There is absolutely no word about Marion Barber’s future. We know Davis and Adams will be testing the free agent market and are likely gone. Most of us are wondering and are very concerned about Barber though.
I want to leave this post open for comments for you all to post free agency and signing news [...]

Keith Davis To Test Free Agency

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Safety Keith Davis will test free agency instead of seeking a contract with the Dallas Cowboys.
Davis told a PR firm that he would like to continue playing in Dallas, but he wants to see what offers he gets from other teams. He has played five seasons in Dallas and has performed best as a special teams player. He is the captain of special teams for the Cowboys.
“I’d love to be here in Dallas. I’m a Cowboys fan,” Davis said. “Just to play for them was a dream come true, first of all. I would love to be here, but I [...]

Jerry Jones Has A Surprise For Cowboys?

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 28 Comments

It was late at night when I saw a quick piece on ESPN in which Jerry Jones was pressed on the Darren McFadden scandal. I call it a scandal because many rumors have Jones considering trading away our Barbarian running back Marion Barber. I think there is a minority of fans that support trading Barber. I am not in that minority.
I will have to paraphrase what the quotes were, but Jones was basically asked about the Cowboys running back situation. His reply was that he is aware that there is uncertainty with Julius Jones, so running back is a key [...]

Dallas Cowboys Draft Cornerback, Wide Receiver In First Round Because We Can Ignore The Rumors For One Day!!

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 13 Comments

Team
1st Round

1. Miami Dolphins -Chris Long, DE, Virginia

Hey, I know about the rumors that the Dolphins want to get rid of this pick, and I am well aware that the Cowboys are invoked as the taker more than any other team. But I can fight it. I will fight it. Glenn Dorsey’s stock has dropped. Chris Long’s has gone up. He’s just more athletic than Dorsey.

2. St. Louis Rams -Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU

The Rams cannot complain with getting Dorsey. He’ll be a run stopper on the front line, which the Rams desperately need.

3. Atlanta Falcons-Darren [...]
