Where the Cowboys stand in the 2025 NFL Draft order heading into Week 15
By Luke Norris
The Dallas Cowboys' 27-20 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals this past Monday night can be looked at in one of two ways.
On the one hand, as the Cowboys had gotten themselves somewhat back in playoff contention after taking consecutive wins over the Washington Commanders and New York Giants, the loss to Cincy was heartbreaking in that it effectively killed any chance that America's Team had at making the postseason for a fourth consecutive year.
On the other hand, however, the Cowboys snatching defeat from the jaws of victory could be seen as a positive, as a loss would improve their standing in the 2025 NFL Draft order.
And make no mistake about it; this team will undoubtedly need a good draft to improve its roster, especially if Jerry Jones ends up needing to replace DeMarvion Overshown, who could very well miss the entire 2025 campaign with the knee injury he suffered on Monday night.
All that said, however, the loss to Cincinnati actually didn't help Dallas much at all.
Updated 2025 NFL Draft order heading into Week 15
A week ago at this time, Dallas held the 13th overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
With the Cowboys dropping to 5-8 for the year with the loss to Cincy, one might think they would have jumped back into the top 10 in the order. But that's not the case. In fact, they only jumped up one spot and enter their Week 15 matchup with the Carolina Panthers holding the 12th overall pick.
Almost makes Monday night's defeat even worse, doesn't it?
With four weeks remaining in the regular season, the No. 1 overall pick currently belongs to the Las Vegas Raiders, who haven't made the first selection since their disastrous decision to take JaMarcus Russell at No. 1 back in 2007.
Rounding out the top five at this time are the New York Giants, New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
