The statement continues:

"On November 5, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Frisco Police Department responded to assist the Texas Department of Public Safety with locating a vehicle that had evaded troopers during a pursuit that entered the city of Frisco."

Troopers located the vehicle minutes later, crashed on the southbound lanes of Dallas Parkway. Officers received information during the search that Kneeland had "expressed suicidal ideations." Per the statement, Kneeland was located at 1:31 a.m., deceased "with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound."

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Piano Police Department received a call for a welfare concern late Wednesday night at an address that they were told belonged to Marshawn Kneeland.

After Kneeland's death, the Cowboys released a statement remembering Kneeland as a "beloved teammate and member of our organization."

A second-round pick in 2024, Kneeland had just had his signature NFL moment in Monday's game against the Arizona Cardinals when he recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown. He appeared in 18 games for the team, tallying 26 tackles, one sack, five tackles for loss, and four quarterback hits.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.
