The Dallas Cowboys lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in dumbfounding fashion. The Cowboys seemed poised to get the ball back late with the game tied 20-20, but an all-time special teams gaffe after a blocked punt gave the ball back to Cincinnati and they promptly scored the game-winning touchdown.

It was a brutal way for Dallas to lose a hard-fought game. However, the more significant loss occurred earlier in the fourth quarter when DeMarvion Overshown suffered a knee injury.

Overshown struggled to put any pressure on his right leg as he was helped off the field. He went straight to the locker room for further testing and was quickly ruled out. It has the makings of a potentially serious injury and replay of the injury unfortunately hammers that home.

Trying to shed a block, Overshown's lower right leg was capsized by a falling Bengals offensive linemen. Unable to dodge the 300-pound behemoth, Overshown's leg bent awkwardly.

Cowboys fans fear DeMarvion Overshown suffered serious knee injury vs. Bengals

Overshown has blossomed into a young superstar in only his first full season. While voting hasn't reflected it, he was on a Pro Bowl trajectory.

Entering Monday night, Overshown was second on the Cowboys in total tackles and trailed only Micah Parsons for the team lead in sacks. He led all defenders with eight tackles for loss. He was everywhere for Dallas against the Bengals before the injury, racking up six tackles and a clutch pass breakup that forced a turnover on downs.

Cowboys fans fear another significant injury for the ascending linebacker and he all but confirmed that after the game with a heartbreaking post on social media. Overshown said he "Wouldn’t want this for anyone else!" and asked his followers to keep him in his prayers.

You're heart just aches for Overshown. He suffered a torn ACL in a preseason game and missed his entire rookie season. That he is seemingly headed for another long road to recovery after just battling through a lengthy rehab is gut-wrenching.

We won't know anything until he undergoes an MRI on Tuesday, but that he was ruled out sheer minutes after suffering the injury is not a good sign. Furthermore, Micah Parsons was choked up postgame when asked about Overshown's injury.

We'll have more updates on Overshown as they are made available, but the early indicators do not bode well for the Tyler, TX native.
