The Dallas Cowboys are giving the Cincinnati Bengals all they handle. Unfortunately, the final score seems insignificant after DeMarvion Overshown went down with a potentially significant injury in the fourth quarter.

A replay on the ESPN Monday Night Football broadcast showed Overshown's right leg get pinned underneath a falling Bengals offensive linemen. It was some 300 pounds crashing down on Overshown's lower right leg. There was nothing Overshown could have done to avoid the hit.

Overshown, who missed his entire rookie year with a torn ACL suffered in preseason, needed a lot of help to get off the field. He headed right to the locker room for an X-ray and was ruled out almost immediately.

That is never a good sign. The Cowboys are calling it a knee injury. Updates won't be provided until after the game.

Overshown could hardly put any pressure on his right leg as he was assisted off the field. A player getting ruled out as quickly as Overshown was normally indicates the team knows exactly what the player is dealing with or mobility is so limited that a return is not possible.

Either scenario causes for concern.

Reporters on the scene noted that Cowboys teammates immediately called for trainers to come out to assist Overshown. Teammates were down on a knee as he was examined. These are normally the tell-tale signs of a serious injury.

If it is any silver lining, teammates had a similar reaction to Juanyeh Thomas' ugly-looking knee injury on Thanksgiving. Thomas was devastated on the field and carted off. It looked like a season-ender in real time, but the MRI revealed a knee sprain and a 2-3 week recovery timeline, meaning Thomas has a chance to return this season.

That would be the best-case scenario with Overshown, who has been the biggest bright spot on Dallas' defense this season outside of Micah Parsons.

A natural-born playmaker, Overshown is first on the team in tackles for loss and defensive stops, and second in total tackles and sacks. He is also near the leaderboard among linebackers in total pressures, defensive stops and pass-rush grade.

Overshown has emerged as a cornerstone player in only his first season. Cowboys fans will be holding their breath until the full extent of his injury is revealed, but the early indicators are very concerning.
