NFC East predictions for 2024: Will Cowboys end up on top?
By Mike Luciano
The Dallas Cowboys may have suffered through some very tough body blows in the last few seasons, and the offseason was quiet before the CeeDee Lamb extension, but they are once again set up well to compete in the NFC East.
Dallas will begin their season against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 before uncorking a very difficult schedule that will see them go toe-to-toe with one of the most difficult schedules in the NFC. Even in a relatively weak NFC East, the Cowboys should expect some tough sledding.
With the big pieces back in place and Dak Prescott ready to show the world he can still play in a contract year, can Dallas once again take home an NFC East crown?
NFC East predictions for 2024
4. New York Giants (3-14)
Things are looking quite grim for the Giants. Daniel Jones isn't offering much in the way of quarterback options, Brian Daboll is on his last legs, and a rebuild is on the horizon. Unless the defense balls out, expect the Giants to enter the 2024 season with the expectation that change is coming after a sown campaign.
3. Washington Commanders (5-12)
The Commanders are another tem expected to do little, as they have a first year head coach and quarterback in Dan Quinn and Jayden Daniels. The Commanders need more work on the defensive side than just about any NFC team, which coud make it tough for Kliff Kingsbury's offense to keep pace in an improved NFC.
2. Dallas Cowboys (10-7)
The Cowboys should be held to task for not doing enough to improve this team in the offseason, as many of their offseason moves were either minor or inconsequential. However, even with those moves (or lack of same) being made, Dallas remains one of the better teams in the NFC thanks to their trio of stars.
Dak Prescott is still a high-end quarterback, CeeDee Lamb is now paid like the elite wide receiver he is, and Micah Parsons could be the best pass rusher in the NFC. Those three alone will win a lot of games for Dallas, but the biggest hurdle remains the postseason. Can Mike McCarthy get it done?
1. Philadelphia Eagles (12-5)
The Eagles were once again fighting for the No. 1 seed in the NFC before they completely fell off the face of the Earth. There once was a time when Jalen Hurts did win 24 of 26 regular season games between the last two seasons. Assuming Philly's new secondary fixes their big issues, former Cowboys OC Kellen Moore could unleash on the rest of the NFC.
