After a grueling seventh-month wait following the crushing January playoff loss, the Dallas Cowboys are back in action this Sunday. While the game won't mean anything in terms of the final score, it is paramount for the Cowboys as far as evaluating position battles and rounding out the 53-man roster.

The Cowboys will visit the Los Angeles Rams, who are a popular pick to come out of the NFC after they finished 10-7 and made the playoffs in a reset year last season. This is a potential playoff matchup, but rest assured neither teams' standout players will see much, if any, action in the game.

With that said, depth is paramount in the NFL and Sunday will be a good test of which NFC contender has the superior roster. Multiple reporters believe the Cowboys are having their most competitive training camp under Mike McCarthy, so the team should come out firing in their first exhibition.

How to watch Cowboys vs Rams on TV

The game will be broadcast on CBS, however it won't be nationally televised. That means only in-market fans can watch the game on their CBS affiliate. Fans outside of the Los Angeles or Dallas area should defer to NFL Network, which will offer a separate broadcast of the game.

How to stream Cowboys vs Rams

Both CBS and NFL Network can be found on streaming services such as YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV and Fubo TV, which offers a seven-day free trial to new users. Fans who don't have access to those streaming platforms can also catch the game on NFL+, which airs every out-of-market preseason game and costs $6.99 per month.

Cowboys vs Rams game details

  • Date: Sunday, Aug. 11
  • Location: SoFi Stadium (Inglewood, Calif.)
  • Kickoff time: 3:30 pm CT

Cowboys fans shouldn't expect an elite brand of football on Sunday, but it is a great opportunity for training camp standouts like QB Trey Lance, WR Tyron Billy-Johnson, CB Caelen Carson, LB Willie Harvey Jr., WR Jalen Cropper and OL Asim Richards to carry their momentum into a game setting.

Conversely, players who have not performed up to expectation can boost their stock and make a later-than-expected push for the 53-man roster.
