Watch Dak Prescott throw dime to Brandin Cooks for yet another long TD hookup
By Jerry Trotta
Monday marked the second week of Dallas Cowboys training camp, but the first padded practice since they arrived in Oxnard last week.
It's early but fans already recognize the impact Brandin Cooks will have on Dak Prescott and the receiver room as a collective.
Jalen Tolbert has leaned on Cooks as a mentor after a down rookie year, while CeeDee Lamb has praised the veteran at every turn, noting that he's a "visual learner" and has taken a lot from Cooks' route-running, preparation and just the way he "goes about his business."
As if the Cooks bandwagon wasn't already overpopulated, he and Prescott connected for another deep touchdown on Monday. Prescott threw a 40-yard strike in a collapsing pocket, while Cooks put on the afterburners on a soul-snatching deep post route before coasting into the end zone.
Dak Prescott and Brandin Cooks' linked up for another long touchdown at Cowboys training camp
This could become a familiar sight for Cowboys fans this season. Prescott and Cooks have connected a number of times thus far at training camp. Not every link up has been for a long touchdown, but it seems as though No. 4 has found No. 3 for a deep pass at every practice since camp started.
Here's a nice short-gainer from Monday's practice.
Cooks seemingly is always open and that's going to happen a lot with Lamb attracting coverage on the other side of the field. Just imagine when they're paired together on the same side with one operating in the slot.
Mike McCarthy is going to have a field day.
For anyone who missed Prescott and Cooks' first touchdown of camp, we've got you covered. On the play, Cooks burned Nahshon Wright -- who's admittedly having a strong camp -- on a filthy double move for a 30-yard touchdown.
Fans were always going to give Prescott and Cooks time to develop chemistry and get on the same page. Many presumed they would look lethal by the end of camp, but week two is just getting started and they already have two long touchdowns and a handful of other connections under their belt.
Consider this a warning to the rest of the NFL.
Everyone already recognizes Prescott and Lamb have elite chemistry. The fact camp is less than seven days old and Dak and Cooks' chemistry has already grown in leaps and bounds is a salivating thought for Cowboys fans.
