The Dallas Cowboys need all hands on deck for their clash against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Like so many weeks over the last several seasons, there's question surrounding the status of franchise left tackle Tyron Smith, who was a surprising scratch in Week 8 with a neck injury suffered in practice.

The Cowboys steamrolled the Rams, so Smith wasn't terribly missed. That said, Los Angeles generated early pressure on Dak Prescott, who did tremendously to navigate a collapsing pocket escape danger with his legs.

Suffice it to say that the Cowboys won't be as fortunate this weekend against the Eagles' vaunted pass rush.

Neck injuries are always tricky and Smith's ever-growing injury history only adds more obscurity to whether he might play. Here's all of the latest updates on the potential future Hall of Famer before Week 9.

Tyron Smith's injury status for Cowboys' Week 9 game vs Eagles

The plan was for Smith to practice on Thursday, but that didn't happen. He's taken part in walkthroughs and head coach Mike McCarthy said Smith could play if he takes part in Saturday's practice.

The eight-time Pro Bowler will do footwork and walkthroughs Thursday and Friday with the hope he practices Saturday. McCarthy has maintained there's no long-term concern with Smith, but his status for Sunday seemingly is a toss-up.

Who would replace Tyron Smith in the starting lineup in Week 9?

If healthy, Chuma Edoga will start at left tackle if Smith can't go. Edoga suffered a scary-looking ankle injury in Week 8 but returned to practice on Wednesday and Thursday. Whether he's healthy enough to start on Sunday is a different story, but Edoga is Smith's de facto backup. If Edoga can't start, left guard Tyler Smith or rookie Asim Richards would be next in line.

Tyron Smith injury history

After logging full seasons in five of his first six seasons, Smith has missed time with injury in each of the last eight campaigns. He hasn't played a full season since 2015 and has started 21 of a possible 56 games since the start of the 2020 season. That means Smith has been available 37% of the time since McCarthy was hired as head coach.
