The Dallas Cowboys are huge home favorites against the New York Jets this weekend after Aaron Rodgers' season-ending Achilles injury. The Jets have preached confidence in Zach Wilson, the No. 3 overall pick in 2020, but it seems like a matter of time until they make an upgrade at the position.

With Cooper Rush and Trey Lance slotted behind Dak Prescott, the Cowboys make sense as a potential trade partner.

Trading Rush, one of the NFL's best backups, might not be the smartest decision given Prescott hasn't played a full season since 2021, but Jerry Jones went on the record after the Lance deal to say he doesn't have to console anyone in the front office before sanctioning a trade.

You can never rule out anything with Jones, but the owner (seemingly) understands the importance of rostering a high-end backup.

Jones appeared on KRLD-FM in Dallas on Tuesday and was asked about the possibility of bailing out the Jets after Rodgers' injury.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones speaks on potential Jets trade

"I can't imagine what it would be (to make that type of trade). But the facts are, just as they do, we could need Rush in a play. And we did last year. We did the year before. Boy, especially when you got all the promise we got, to compromise with the depth at that position would be very unlikely."

And thus, an on-edge fan base breaths a sigh of relief. Of course, this doesn't officially rule out a Dallas-Jets trade, but it doesn't seem like Jones was posturing here. The owner typically loves to keep the media guessing, but he was very straightforward here. Trading Rush would put the Cowboys in a compromised position if Prescott were to suffer another freak injury.

Hopefully, Jones doesn't waver in his opinion, because it's the right one.

DeMarcus Lawrence, Osa Odighizuwa troll Giants amid Week 1 sack barrage

If you haven't heard, the Cowboys sacked Daniel Jones seven times in Week 1 and tallied another dozen or so pressures.

In this week's "Sounds from the Sideline" -- which depicted Micah Parsons taking shots at CeeDee Lamb -- DeMarcus Lawrence and Osa Odighizuwa were caught trolling the Giants.

Lawrence can be heard saying "Let's make them quit before halftime," which pretty much was accomplished, while Odighizuwa did his best Oprah Winfrey impression. You'll understand once you watch the clip.

The fact this video has made the rounds on Giants Twitter is awesome. The best part? Giants diehards can't even hate on Lawrence and Odighizuwa. What defense wouldn't act this way toward a rival amid a 40-0 drubbing?

The arrogance is a welcome sight, and Cowboys fans are hoping the defense turns in a similar performance in the home opener vs the Jets in Week 2.
