Dak Prescott can throw for 400 yards and multiple touchdowns in any given game, so opposing teams surely roll their eyes whenever they see the Dallas Cowboys on the schedule. With that in mind, we can't help but wonder which quarterbacks might give Dallas' elite defense their toughest challenge of the 2023 season.

Quarterback matchups vary from year-to-year depending on the schedule. While the Cowboys avoid Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow this upcoming season, they'll still face some of the best QBs the league has to offer.

The Cowboys have 13 different opponents this season and we took the liberty of ranking every projected starter they'll face in 2023.

Ranking the Cowboys' quarterback matchups in 2023

13. Sam Howell (Commanders)

The Commanders had the salary cap space and trade assets to go out and get Lamar Jackson or another high-level QB. Instead, they're sticking with 2022 fifth-round pick Sam Howell, who attempted 19 passes a rookie. The former UNC star throws a pretty deep ball and can scramble away from pressure, but he'll likely experience extensive growing pains in his first year as a starter.

12. Bryce Young (Panthers)

Andy Dalton has been named QB1 on the Panthers depth chart, but they're likely just posturing so Bryce Young feels he has to earn the starting job. Carolina used the No. 1 overall pick on Young and it's typically a rarity QBs picked first overall don't start Week 1 unless they're entirely a development project.

Young could take the league by storm as a rookie, but the Alabama product checks in No. 12 here given he's yet to play an NFL snap.
