The Dallas Cowboys selected Mazi Smith with the No. 26 pick of the NFL Draft. The selection took folks by surprise, but Smith was a top-30 visit with the Cowboys and was the best player in the class at a position of weakness for Dallas.

Smith has already touched down in Frisco and he's left the strongest first impression imaginable. His personality and smile are both infectious. After one look at the five Lombardi Trophy's and Super Bowl rings, the Michigan product was ready to take the field for his first practice.

"I’m ready to hit somebody in the face. I’m not playin’," Smith said.

That will come soon, rook. First, the Cowboys have to make their six remaining picks. Two of those will take place on Friday, when teams make their second and third round selections. Day 2 is set to start at 7pm EST.

With that, let's dive into the second day of the draft. Here's everything Cowboys fans need to know about Friday's action.

How many picks do the Cowboys have on Day 2 of the NFL Draft?

As of this writing, the Cowboys have two picks between the second and third rounds. That could change with a potential trade -- up or down -- but Dallas has the No. 58 overall pick (the 27th pick of the second round) and No. 90 overall pick (the 28th pick of the third round).

It'd be foolish to rule out a trade, but the Cowboys let the board fall to them in the first round and it worked out perfectly. When the dust settled, they had their pick between Smith, Joey Porter Jr., Nolan Smith and every tight end not named Dalton Kincaid, whom the Bills grabbed after jumping ahead of Dallas.

Chances are they'll do the same on Day 2, which has ample talented prospects to choose from. The roster doesn't have any glaring blemishes, but we'd expect Dallas to emphasize a tight end -- Mike McCarthy wants one, per NFL Network's Jane Slater -- offensive linemen (most likely an interior OL) and running back.

There will be a long wait for the Cowboys' initial pick and an even longer wait before they draft again at No. 90 overall, but it'll be worth it. If the surprise-heavy first round was any indication, Friday's picks are going to fly by.

Next. 3 Day 2 targets that would give Cowboys an A+ draft. dark
