The Dallas Cowboys could not have asked for a better time to play on Thursday Night Football. While it's the first time that Dallas will play a road game on three days of rest or fewer, getting back on the field is the best thing for a team that's coming off two straight losses.

A matchup with the New York Giants would normally have Cowboys fans feeling confident. While Dallas is favored, Big Blue have played inspired football the last two weeks. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers is already blossoming into a star and Trevon Diggs has started slow coming off ACL surgery.

It's not hyperbolic to say the Cowboys' season would be over if they lose. Their next six games (they have a bye in Week 7) are against the Steelers, Lions, BYE, 49ers, Falcons, Eagles and Texans. That is an absolute gauntlet.

This is a must-win for Dallas but luckily Dak Prescott has owned the Giants in his career. He is 12-2 while averaging 263.3 yards per game with 28 touchowns to seven interceptions.

Let's get into who will be announcing and refereeing this rivalry game.

Announcers for Cowboys vs. Giants

  • Network: Amazon Prime
  • Play-by-play: Al Michaels
  • Color commentary: Kirk Herbstreit
  • Sideline reporter: Kaylee Hartung

Alert the presses because for the first time this season Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady won't be calling a Dallas game. Burkhardt and Brady have become the unofficial broadcast team of the Cowboys. While Brady is getting better every week, it will be nice to hear another crew's perspective.

On Thursday night, Dallas supporters will get a taste of Hall of Fame broadcaster Al Michaels and longtime sports commentator Kirk Herbstreit. Michaels will be on play-by-play and Herbstreit will provide color commentary. Reporter Kaylee Hartung will have live updates from the sideline throughout the game.

Referees for Cowboys vs. Giants

The head referee for Cowboys vs. Giants will be Clay Martin. Last week's game against the Ravens was a penalty palooza. That always makes for a tough watch ... and some questionable calls. Fortunately, Martin's crew has called the second-fewest penalties this season with 20. They've also thrown 22 flags, so their hit rate, for lack of a better term, has been on point.

Here is the rest of the crew that will be calling the game with Martin:

  • Umpire: James Carter
  • Down Judge: Jerod Phillips
  • Line Judge: Brian Perry
  • Side Judge: Dave Hawkshaw
  • Field Judge: Alonzo Ramsey
  • Back Judge: Greg Wilson
