After the work they did in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys front office deserves its flowers. The Jones family and Will McClay once again found value throughout the weekend and they avoided making any panic moves. Most importantly, they seem to have turned the 24th overall pick into two starters to fill out the offensive line.

Afterward, they had a few undrafted free-agent signings and officially brought back Ezekiel Elliott. He might not be the player he once was but he’s better than any other option they had.

Perhaps their work will keep them competitive in 2024 but they’ll need to be on their A-game again next year. That’s why we’re already looking ahead with this way-too-early 3-round 2025 mock draft.

Cowboys Round 1 Pick: Tre Harris, WR, Ole Miss

Just before the draft, the Philadelphia Eagles signed A.J. Brown to a mammoth extension that will destroy the Jones family in their CeeDee Lamb negotiations. Once again, they’ll be burnt by their inability to pick their feet up in contract talks — and they still won’t learn.

Eventually, they should lock him up but keeping Brandin Cooks beyond this year is out of the question. That's why their first pick in this mock lands them Tre Harris from Ole Miss.

Harris started at Louisiana Tech before heading to Ole Miss in 2023 and had 985 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s a redshirt senior so he’s a bit older but he averaged 18 yards per catch and has the size to line up on the boundary.

He should be an excellent No. 2 option across from Lamb for the next several seasons.
