The early window in Week 3 featured some of the craziest football you will ever see. There were multiple game-winning blocked kicks, including in the Packers-Browns game that Micah Parsons and Green Bay were expected to win comfortably.
The Browns blocked Green Bay's 43-yard go-ahead field goal attempt with 27 seconds left in regulation. That gifted Cleveland a short field to set up their own game-winning field goal. And while kicker Andre Szmyt drilled a 55-yarder to punctuate one of the biggest upsets of the NFL season, Parsons committed a brutal mistake that buoyed the Browns' comeback.
Parsons was flagged for a neutral zone infraction on the first play of Cleveland's game-winning drive. It was only a five-yard penalty, but it pushed the Browns inside Packers territory, setting the stage for Szmyt's heroics as Cleveland needed less than 15 yards to get into FG range.
Micah Parsons was at the center of the Packers' epic Week 3 collapse
Parsons doesn't have a penchant for committing penalties, but jumping offside and committing neutral zone infractions is his one weakness. He has the best get-off in the NFL, but his eagerness sometimes gets the best of him, and that's what happened on the Browns' game-winning drive.
The loss isn't all on Parsons, however. The Packers' defense was once again lights out. They pitched a shutout until the fourth quarter and didn't allow a touchdown until 3:01 left in regulation. Even that score followed a horrific Jordan Love interception. Love deserves a bigger share of the blame pie than Parsons.
The All-Pro pass rusher didn't have his typical seismic impact, but he still finished with a handful of pressures and two quarterback hits. That's a fine day at the office, but head coach Matt LaFleur will undoubtedly be in his ear about the neutral zone infraction.
The Browns' offense is arguably the worst in the NFL. The worst thing Parsons could've done in that situation was give them more yards on an already short field. His hunger got the best of him, and it cost Green Bay, which stunningly fell to 2-1 as one of Week 3's biggest favorites.
