Jerry Jones is eating his words after Trevon Diggs silences the doubters

When will he learn?

Over the offseason, Dallas Cowboys star cornerback Trevon Diggs made it known that he would do things his way when it came to rehabbing and training. And to be frank, that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Many players train and rehab away from their team facility, but Diggs plays for Jerry Jones, and that makes him an easy target for the Cowboys owner. In fact, Jones called his star corner out multiple times over the offseason because he was away from the team facility. Jones even went so far as to snatch $500,000 out of Diggs' pocket as a "punishment."

Fast forward to Thursday night when the Cowboys opened the season against the Philadelphia Eagles, and Diggs' knee looked just dandy. Not only that, but Diggs played so well that Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts didn't even target him, per Pro Football Focus.

Not once.

For those of you who were wondering why AJ Brown was a non-factor, there's your answer.

Jerry Jones has more than enough to think about before calling out his players

Let's see how the past few months have shaped up. First, Jones calls out Diggs on multiple occasions. He even fines him. Then, Diggs goes out against the defending Super Bowl champions and puts on a stellar performance.

Oh, and in the very same offseason, Jones said plenty about former Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons. Pick a topic, because Jones did more than just drop hints about the four-time Pro Bowler.

Ultimately, Jones decided to trade Parsons to Green Bay. Now, we have yet to see exactly how that trade pans out. But, I'm going out on a limb and saying that it probably won't end up favoring Dallas.

So, Jones fabricates headlines about his top two defensive stars for absolutely zero reason over the offseason. Meanwhile, he isn't doing what he's long said he would do: go "all-in" on a Cowboys Super Bowl run.

Cowboys fans have grown more than accustomed to Jones' yapping without his actions offering anything positive or substantial. As I have stated before, this is sadly the norm for Dallas. And it isn't changing, so long as Jones is in charge.

As for Diggs, I think he might deserve that cash back in his wallet after the way he shut down Philly receivers in Week 1.
