It is a luxury in today's NFL to expect excellent quarterback play every week, but that is exactly where Dallas Cowboys fans are at with Dak Prescott, who's putting together the best season of his career and a legitimate MVP resume.

Sunday's 44-22 win over the Commanders was just a continuation of that, as Prescott completed 21 of 30 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns without a turnover. The three-time Pro Bowler now has four straight games with three or more TD passes and zero turnovers.

It'd be silly to expect Prescott to be flawless for the rest of the season, but Jason Garrett reiterated on NBC's Football Night in America that Prescott is dominating both the physical and mental aspects of the game right now, and that has led to the Cowboys' offense being nearly impossible to stop for four quarters.

"So many weapons, and the guy running the show (Dak Prescott), his best trait? He aggressively takes what the defense gives him. He’s done this throughout his entire career. When he has a shot down the field, he’s going to let that thing rip. ... They’re just really hard to stop."

Jason Garrett was full of praise for Dak Prescott after the Cowboys' Week 7 win

If anyone knows Dak Prescott’s biggest strengths, it’s Jason Garrett, who coached the Cowboys when Prescott was drafted in 2016 and made the difficult decision to name him the permanent starter over Tony Romo during his rookie season.

Prescott is elite at taking what the defense gives him and dictating the line of scrimmage. Whether that's being aggressive beyond the numbers or hitting Jake Ferguson underneath to set up a manageable third down, the 32-year-old QB is in control of everything.

As Garrett said, though, Prescott is taking more shots downfield in Brian Schottenheimer's offense, and he's been efficient doing so. He entered Week 7 ranking third in the NFL with a 71.4 percent completion rate.

Having a field-stretcher with All-Pro ball skills in George Pickens certainly helps. Prescott and Pickens connected on multiple deep shots up the sideline against the Commanders, and Pickens drew a 37-yard pass interference penalty on Dallas' opening drive that set up the game's first touchdown.

What is so scary about this Dallas offense is that it hit a few snags on Sunday and still managed to score 27 points in the first half. A lot of teams would be happy to score 27 points in a game. The Cowboys only scored three points on their first three possessions of the second quarter, before traveling 72 yards in four plays to build a 27-15 halftime lead. It happens that quickly with this group.

The Cowboys will face a stiff test in Week 8 against the Broncos in Denver, but until a team proves that it can stop this offense, why should fans go into any matchup expecting anything but fireworks on that side of the ball?
