The authors of so much heartbreak and disappointment, the Dallas Cowboys can't be relied on for much year over year. But beating the New York Giants? That's about as certain as filing your taxes.
In a game he started and finished, Dak Prescott hasn't lost to the Giants since his rookie year in 2016. That streak will be put to the test next week on Sunday Night Football.
With Jon Harbaugh taking over for Brian Daboll, New York has had a palpable pep in its step this offseason. But there's a fine line between confidence, which is required to succeed in the NFL, and writing a check your teammates simply can't cash.

There's nothing like the new guy in the locker room -- undoubtedly motivated to prove his previous team wrong for giving up on him -- putting an unnecessary target on his new team's back.

The Cowboys rested their starters in Week 18 against New York last season, but their secondary couldn't deal with Dallas' aerial attack in the Week 2 meeting.
Prescott completed 38 of 52 passes (73.1 percent) for 361 yards and two touchdowns. Lamb and Pickens combined to catch 14 of 19 targets for 180 yards and one touchdown.
You might remember biting off all of your fingernails during that game. Brandon Aubrey drilled a 64-yard field goal as time expired to send the game to overtime, where the Cowboys ultimately prevailed despite the defense allowing Russell Wilson (!) to throw for 450 yards and three touchdowns.
The Giants haven't seen All-Pro George Pickens with the Cowboys yet
It's important to remember that Pickens was just warming up at that point. His chemistry with Prescott hadn't reached unstoppable yet. Now a focal point of the offense and motivated to reset the WR market next offseason, Pickens might make MetLife Stadium his playground.
Of course, Lamb is no stranger to dominating the Giants.
In 12 games against Big Blue, Lamb has caught 71 passes for 975 yards (81.3 per game) and five touchdowns. That'd be a great season for most receivers. He's eclipsed 100 yards against New York four times and hauled in at least seven passes five times. Expect Pickens to join the fun next Sunday.
Newsome is not the first player to make a bristling declaration about his team, and he won't be the last. A lot of Cowboys fans are uneasy about the team leaning into its Super Bowl aspirations.
Having said that, maybe read up on the division a little bit? I'm not normally in the business of handing out compliments to the Eagles, but Newsome is aware that he's in the same division as Philly now, right? Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Riq Woolen clear the Giants' CB room.
Lamb and Pickens specialize in humiliating secondaries. Neither of them needs extra motivation to go out and create fireworks, but Newsome gave them a personal reason to put on a show.
