Dolphins expert’s Jordyn Brooks take should have Cowboys licking their chops

The Dallas Cowboys have worked hard this offseason to improve their defense, and if all the moves they made actually make a difference, they could be one of the best teams in the league. They already have an elite offense, but they need the defense to catch up.

While Dallas is likely happy with the defensive additions it made, the team shouldn’t be satisfied until they see results on the field. That means the Cowboys should still be exploring moves that will make them better defensively. Fortunately, there’s one move staring the franchise right in the face.

The Miami Dolphins, who are clearly at the start of a rebuild, recently extended standout center Aaron Brewer and star running back De'Von Achane. This has left Dolphins expert Brian Miller of Phin Phanatic wondering if Brooks' time in South Florida is coming to an end.

That’s the reason Miami’s situation is relevant to the Cowboys. If the Dolphins are on the fence about the future of their All-Pro linebacker, Dallas should get them on the phone and help them make their decision.

The Dallas Cowboys can strill trade for Dolphins All-Pro LB Jordyn Brooks

Brooks is coming off an All-Pro season where he led the NFL with 183 tackles. However, he’s entering the last season of his current contract with Miami, and since the team is rebuilding, it’s unclear if they want to extend him for the future.

Miller explained that Dolphins new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan has pushed back on the idea of trading Brooks, but admitted he has taken calls on the linebacker.

That’s why the conversation is persisting because the linebacker hasn’t been extended. According to Miller, Brooks could just be next in line for the Dolphins and could receive a new deal before the start of the season, but until that happens, a trade remains a possibility.

The Cowboys would certainly love for Miami to open that door. While Dallas has DeMarvion Overshown and Dee Winters at the inside linebacker spot, it’s hard to pass up on an All-Pro, tackling machine. Linebacker is the biggest question mark on the roster.

Brooks will only be 29 in October, and he has proven to be durable and consistent, starting 16 or 17 games in each of the last five seasons, and routinely eclipsing 100 tackles in all of them. If the Dolphins decided to part ways with that kind of production, the Cowboys would be the perfect landing spot.
