The Dallas Cowboys have OTAs starting on June 1, allowing players to get back into the building and the practice field. With that being the primary focus, their rivals are looking to make additions to their rosters.

And on June 1, the Giants decided to bring back a fan favorite, with NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reporting that New York has signed veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham recently worked out for Big Blue, and things went well. While this news will bring joy to Giants fans, it shows how bleak the WR room was. Adding a 33-year-old receiver won't change much for them, underscoring the sheer desperation of Dallas' division rival.

Giants signing Odell Beckham Jr. is comedy gold for Dallas Cowboys fans

The Giants' new head coach, John Harbaugh, crossed paths with Beckham Jr. back in 2023 with the Baltimore Ravens. It appears they had a good rapport, leading to New York re-signing him. Nonetheless, he isn't the same player that he was in the past. Not even close.

Beckham's long injury history includes multiple torn ACLs and ankle problems, which impacted his athleticism and ability to create separation and yards after the catch. His last season in the NFL was in 2024 with the Miami Dolphins, where he finished with nine catches for 55 yards in nine games. They ended up releasing him in December, and the LSU product didn't suit up at all in 2025.

The Giants may be hoping they catch lightning in a bottle with this addition, but the odds are low that it happens. The fact that New York decided to bring back OBJ shows how they view their WR room. And that's a troubling sign for them and a great one for Dallas.

Malik Nabers is still rehabbing his ACL, which forced him to get a follow-up procedure. It hasn't been smooth sailing for him, and his status for Week 1 against Dallas is up in the air. There's no telling when he'll get back on the field, and the rest of the Giants' WR room beyond him isn't anything to be scared of.

Calvin Austin III, Jalin Hyatt, Darius Slayton, Malachi Fields, Darnell Mooney, and Isaiah Hodgins make up the rest of the unit. New York decided to sign Beckham Jr. and Braxton Berrios on Monday, indicating they weren't content with this collection of weapons.

The decision to sign OBJ shows New York is grasping for more juice offensively. And that's exactly what the Cowboys want to see. They went through the entire offseason without making a meaningful addition there, and now added a player who wasn't even in the league last season, and hasn't had more than 600 receiving yards in a season since 2019.

Even though Dallas had their own troubles in the secondary last year, New York landing Beckham Jr. shouldn't have them worried in the slightest. In actuality, it shows how down they were on their receivers. And that should put a smile on the faces of Cowboy coaches, players, and fans.
