The theme of the Dallas Cowboys' offseason has been to rebuild the secondary under new defensive coordinator Christian Parker, who has a background coaching defensive backs. But it doesn't end there, as Dallas has sought to bring in DBs with careers they believe can thrive in Parker's system.

Between Caleb Downs, Jalen Thompson, Cobie Durant, and P.J. Locke, the Cowboys are banking on Parker working his magic to spark a turnaround.

And the list doesn't end there, as Dallas is looking at a guy whom Parker coached during his time with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The player is Adoree’ Jackson, who reportedly visited the Cowboys on Tuesday, per league insider Jordan Schultz. The interest is understandable given his familiarity with the system, but he’s coming off a down year in Philadelphia and wouldn’t move the needle much for this defense.

The 30-year-old appeared in 14 games and made 10 starts as the Eagles' CB2 last season, logging a solid 11 pass breakups and 55 tackles. However, Jackson was more of a liability than those numbers display. He allowed an 89.3 passer rating when targeted and missed 12 tackles.

That's not someone you want playing a key role. He was average in 2024, but in 2023, he was one of the worst cover cornerbacks in the NFL. A 46.9 coverage grade from PFF is brutal, so even though it was three years ago, it's proof of who Jackson is now. He's not the high-flying former Jim Thorpe Award-winning cornerback anymore.

The appeal of signing the USC product should be that he'll offer depth. And he'd represent an upgrade over the depth options Dallas had last year if he signs. Kaiir Elam. Trikweze Bridges. Andrew Booth. It was rough.

Jackson put out some rough tape last season, but he's not as bad as those guys. The former first-round pick logged a 54.6 PFF grade and a 54.1 coverage grade.

Cowboys fans should be well-acquainted with Jackson because of his two separate stints in the NFC East, but even with the Parker connection, keeping him in the division for the sixth consecutive season would be a questionable move.
