Of all the starting quarterbacks in the NFL, Dak Prescott is the one who gets the most scrutiny, and not all of it is deserved. Most of the hate he gets is because of the star on his helmet, and it seems like Dallas Cowboys fans are the only ones who appreciate Dak for what he is and who he's become.

Most people see Prescott as a solid quarterback who can't win the big game. Cowboys fans see a fourth-round pick who has given his all to his franchise since Tony Romo retired. He's clearly one of the best in the game, and thankfully, Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith is on the pro-Dak hype train.

During an interview with Action Sports' DJ Siddiqi, the Hall of Fame running back was asked about all things Cowboys: George Pickens, Jerry Jones, and of course, Dak Prescott. And his words about the four-time Pro Bowler included a major endorsement in regards to the franchise's legacy post-Romo.

"I think having Dak Prescott as a Dallas Cowboys quarterback is the best thing that the Cowboys have done since Tony Romo left," said Smith. "I would just say to everyone that says Dak has not won the big one -- well hell, the Cowboys haven't been in the big one. He cannot win it all by himself."

Emmitt Smith correctly sees Dak Prescott as the Dallas Cowboys' savior

Smith went as far as to say that having Dak was the best thing the Cowboys have done since Romo left. But the reason Romo walked away in the first place is because Prescott stole his job while he was hurt. He led Dallas to a 13-3 record and was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year back in 2016.

The other reason the 32-year-old gets hate is because of his lack of playoff success, and the NFL's all-time leading rusher made sure to set the record straight on that, too. It doesn't all fall on Prescott's shoulders, even if people want to push this narrative that he's to blame for every big loss. The lack of playoff success has lasted since the 90s; this is an issue that extends far beyond his time.

Quarterback is always the position that gets the most blowback for the lack of playoff success. Hell, look at Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. Prescott actually as a higher EPA per play than Joe Burrow, who everyone has crowned as the Patrick Mahomes stopper.

Prescott is the ultimate teammate. He embodies what it means to be a Cowboy. So while many NFL fans and NFC East rivals see No. 4 as a guy who's merely good enough, Emmitt Smith sees him as something different entirely: someone who is built to take the Cowboys where they need to go.
