Very few teams in the NFL can say they've boasted borderline top-10 quarterback play for the last decade, and the Dallas Cowboys are one of them.

It helps that Dak Prescott has been under center since 2016, but only the Chiefs, Bills, Ravens, and Lions can say they’ve had high-level quarterback play for at least eight years with Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and, in Detroit's case, Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff.

It's difficult to admit, but Prescott has officially reached "unc" status. He's among the league's oldest starting QBs, and the window to deliver a Super Bowl to Dallas isn't staying open forever.

It’s hard to fully capture how badly Cowboys fans want Prescott to lead America’s Team back to the mountaintop, but former cornerback Jourdan Lewis nailed it while reflecting on his eight years in Dallas during an appearance on the Just Earn It podcast (10:45 mark).

"I love every second of being a Cowboy -- the good and the bad. That's something I thrived in. I just thrived in people saying we weren't gonna be this good, we weren't gonna be that, and he's not that good. But I knew the type of people that I had around me, and the type of teammates that I had, and I loved them. Like Dak, man.

"I love Dak. I love the type of leader he is. I love the type of player he is. I mean, he's gone through so much, and he fights back every single time. I believe in the quarterback, and you need that in the NFL. You have to believe in the quarterback. That's No. 1, and I believed in him ..."

Former Dallas Cowboys CB Jourdan Lewis has the utmost respect for Dak Prescott

At this point, there’s an endless list of current and former Cowboys who have praised Prescott’s natural leadership.

While quarterbacks are ultimately defined by how they perform between the lines, talent means nothing if the locker room doesn’t believe in the guy throwing spirals.

Talent can only earn the respect of teammates for so long. The “love” and adoration that Lewis describes come from leading by example. Whether it's being the first one in and last one out, taking the time to build personal relationships with teammates, or battling through adversity, Prescott is the complete package.

We're not breaking news by saying that QB is the most important position in sports, but it isn't said enough. Everything runs through it. They touch the ball on every play and carry the weight of the entire offense. Talent might get you noticed, but leadership is what gets everyone else to follow.

Much like Lewis, the vast majority of Cowboys fans believe in Prescott. When it comes to handling the weight of the Cowboys and navigating front office noise, there isn’t a player more equipped to lead America’s Team.

Now, it's on Prescott to reward that belief. If he delivers, he won't just meet expectations -- he'll alter the way his career is remembered.
